scared and excited all at the same time
I have a preopt doctor appointment in the morning
Next Monday is the big day I will be happy it is over and I can start
my new journey

Good luck! I didn't realize it was this soon. If after, you want some
special recipes, I can help. In fact, I have a set of 3 for post
surgical stomach diet i put together for another friend. I have to hit
the grocery store in a minute but when I get back, if you want them i can
move them here for you and spiffy them to any special things you already
know will be needed. Then you could take them with you if you like to
see what the Doc/Nutritionist thinks of them? Some would doubtless fit
and some wouldn't.

The recipes were for a good friend who just had a large portion of his
stomach and intestines removed due to cancer treatments. I'm hoping he
will do well. They are based on some special diet needs of his as well
as some aspects of what *he likes* best.

Thanks they have a diet all laid out for me for the next 3 months of
progression. I am having the lap band so there is no stomach or
intestines cutting involved. Knock on wood;-)

Be sure to follow the diet and specific instructions carefully. I don't
know a thing about the lap band but I do know a number of people who had
gastric bypass surgery. One guy didn't stick to the diet. He figured he
could just eat whatever he wanted. A week after surgery he tried to eat a
large pizza (he should have still been only eating soft food in very small
quantities). He wound back up in the hospital. Not a pleasant thing.

Best of luck to you, Matthew!

We KNOW it's not the place for meowchat, but it sometimes happens..not
the end of the world is it?
Well, you're missing a lot of fun with the cheezburgers.

She won't mind a little. Favorite background up just now. 'I has a teddy
woof'. Pic is a polar bear hugging a wolf.

awwwwwwww

I usually don't either....For one thing, they top post, which also
annoys me....

So get over it already...there are only 3 people who top post, including
me.

Yup, it's hard in long threads but not that big of a deal. I move it
about if it seems needed.

You have a good attitude

Also, it would tend to make correct spelling more difficult, just in case
you needed to spell something correctly.....Like filling out a resume for
a job as an English teacher. (for example......:^)

It's a second language..you see. and yes, the spell checkers do run wild
LOL
If I filled out a job application, I would do it in catspeak
Especially if I went to work for the cheezburger people who
happen to be located in my home town.

Lighten up...okay?

Thst or we can pick on him gently for all the elipsis ....... (evil grin
but no real evil intended)

LOL yeah, we 'could'

It's adorable! The 'woof's paws are just a bit off the ground and he looks
like he's about to lick the polar bears toes. He's obviously 'hanging
happy' where he is.

It's not hard. If I can see a thread will grow more, I do it. Simple
cut-n-paste.

I used to do hobby support with ADA folks and was a dab hand at screen
readers, sipp-n-puff systems and things like voice recognition software. I
even got a new link to a new one (as soon as I repair my speakers) to play
with. I tested for 20 years a very popular BBS package for adaption and to
this day, it remains one of the best out there for Fidonet for
accessibility.

I'm a little dated now but some things are just automatic.

Also, it would tend to make correct spelling more difficult, just in
case you needed to spell something correctly.....Like filling out a
resume for a job as an English teacher. (for example......:^)

Hehehe (sorry). I didnt mean to be 'katty' but anyone worried that we don't
qualifiy as English majors who couldnt type a single full sentance without
'....' all over the place, isn't one I would take that seriously. I'm aware
of my imperfections, the most glaring of which tends to be spelling. The
less glaring but can also be irritating is a large vocabulary. It's not
deliberate, it's just how I am.

LOL! I saved the link but my speakers died and I havent set up new ones
yet.

Kinda 'one of these days'.

Meantime, watching Daisy-chan sleeping on the floor in the sunroom. She's
all tired out after ensuring Cash and Don got settled correctly for their
afternoon nap. Poor thing. Life is hard for a cat with 3 2foots and a
fellow 4foot to watch out for.

it must be difficult to be so pompus,
-the posts were cross posted, i didn't do that.
-take a lesson from mary l and jmc, choose not to read it, but don't be
abusive and rude about something you don't choose to participate in, again
read mary l's polite and thought ful post,

What is 'Welfair'?

Its, "welfare" for someone who, (for some reason or other) doesn't want
to use a spell checker and attempt to write in plain English, but
prefers to cover up spelling mistakes by writing in some sort of
intentional gibberish.

What he's suggesting is this is not an appropriate place for meowchat.

Sorry its taken so long for me to reply to your posts.....I really don't
mean to be so "pompous". But there has been a movement over the last twenty
or thirty years to trash the traditional spelling of the English language,
and, "modernize it" into a faster, more streamlined format that simplifies
it and makes it easier to learn, as well as more phonetic to read. I am
against this movement for the following reason. The origins of our words
interests me greatly, and it is possible, from their spelling, to ascertain
their roots and history. English comes from not only Greek and Latin
origins, but also Germanic and Norse beginnings. It is true that it is a,
"Living language" in that it is always changing and taking on new words, but
many of these come from different languages and have a "history" of their
own. I really have nothing against misspelling for fun, and I have seen many
cleaver poems written in this way. Its just that one of my hobbies has been
trying to figure out the meanings of words from their spelling subtleties,
and I can visualize a day when this will be impossible should the
modernizers win out, so I do what I can to discourage it.

I don't think it's something that started in the 1980s! English
spelling has been evolving for a long time. I don't personally mind
the quirky and irregular spelling of English too much, but when you
compare it with languages that have undergone more systematic spelling
reform, such as French or Korean, there's an elegance to them - to
hear a word, even if it's new, is to be able to write it. To see a
word, even if you've never heard it spoken before, is to be able to
say it.

I like word etymology as well as anyone - I've recently compiled the
all the etymology in the American Heritage dictionary into a
spreadsheet - 90,000 entries, and I've gone so far as to study the
etymology of the shapes of individual characters in some languages.
But I wouldn't stand in the way of language reform just because of my
hobby.
