Overwhelmed...
So many unexpected expenses related to moving have flattened my
budget. I had hoped to manage until I had a garage sale, but can't, therefore, I've made an inventory of my entire remaining video collection, 371 different titles (many hard-to-find) to offer for sale online until the garage sale when local folks can get what's left. If you're in the US & Canada, please take some of these movies to help me and the cats. Ask PatM and Chris H. if they were happy with what they got from me, and/or check my ebay feedback: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...=crystalmirror The full list of titles, alphabetized, is now available for viewing online at http://fidnet.com/~pdavis/videos.html Email me if you see some that you want. Priced from $2 up with most being around $3-$4... some rare ones higher... I give quantity discounts and use Media Mail shipping which is very low. Thanks!!! P.S. If you're outside North America and able to view NTSC format, and don't mind higher shipping, go for it... |

"Adrian A" wrote Good luck with selling your tapes. Many thanks, Adrian! I have enjoyed watching them and passing them on to others who will also enjoy them. I started the collection years ago since I lived too far from town to get TV reception or ever return rentals on time. I tried DISH for a short time and found it was not worth $1/day to me. But now that I have a tall antenna on the roof I get excellent reception on the Springfield channels, and being in town if I want to watch a movie it's 3 blocks to the rental joint where all but the latest releases are 52 cents including tax. |

It's always hardest in the beginning, Pat. But things will get better. And,
as you said, you and the furbabies seem to be so much more relaxed in a bigger place and, best thing, IT'S ALL YOURS!!!! Hang in there. Bless his heart, Little Rock, Arkansas is a 3-1/2 hour drive one way so commuting isn't possible. He seems to have forgotten how expensive it is to relocate. Jill |

I think relocating to a big city is made easier on the budget by all the competition among apartment complexes. Lots of them offer freebies for signing a year's lease, and that can help with expenses. Wouldn't you be closer to John if you went to LR? And it's a much nicer city, IMHO, than Memphis. |

I'd be closer, certainly. But unlike you, I couldn't just haul stuff back and forth (or have some unwanted help moving it for me). I'd have to hire a moving firm. I'd also have to break a lease which means paying a penalty of 2 months rent *and* deal with the whole thing (which you know about) of having new utilities turned on, new phone service, etc. I'm don't know that Little Rock is nicer city than Memphis. I've never been there. I do know according to the 2000 census (heh) it had a population of 200,000 whereas Memphis had 650,000. This suggests LR would have fewer jobs to offer, too. Dad is trying to offer helpful suggestions; I know that. He keeps forgetting, whenever we relocated (which was often until he retired from the Marines in 1972) the costs of relocation and often even housing was paid for by the military. I know he's just trying to help. Jill |
