Why not rent out Madison Square Garden in New York City, send out invites,

IOW, people with no self-esteem who need others to validate their worth.

Oh, I don't disagree that it exists kaeli! Phil seemed to implicate that it
was the ONLY reason one would own a purebred animal, which is obviously not
true. I can't imagine my social status being enhanced by such a thing. In
fact, it's probably MORE socially important for me to NOT own a purchased
purebred dog. I own one of each, and for specific reasons.

There are people who choose their pets (purebred or mixed) for all sorts of
bizarre reasons. That doesn't mean that anyone who chooses a purebred pet is a
social climber.
