Me, too. I don't have a maternal instinct in my body (toward humans, that
is).
People bring their babies and grandbabies in to work and everyone stands
around begging to hold them and play with them. I'm never in that group. I
can't honestly say I enjoy children at all. I think it's been 20 years or so
since I held a baby and that's because someone thrust it at me. But a baby
kitty, that's a different story...

I know, LOL. A baby kitty is hard to resist

Me too. Also, give the percentages of births that are unplanned (certainly
80 per cent or more) I would say that we have mastered the concept of birth
control a bit better than many. The vast majority of children are the
result of a lack of self control or birth control. The blessed accident then
shapes the life (and severely limits the choices) of the mother and
sometimes the father. Hell of a way to fulfilment.

Good point. I know a young woman right now in fact who has just had a baby due
to an unplanned pregnancy. Her unhappiness is very apparent. I feel sorry for
the baby.

And unfortunately I have at least 10 more good childbearing years
ahead. LOL

I really can't see myself having kids. I'd probably lock them up in a
closet or something then get tossed in jail! LOL

I hear nothing but complaints about friend's children. They're sick.
They're in jail. The police brought them home. They hurt themselves
snowboarding. Etc. etc. I just don't see the rewards anywhere.

But kitties are another thing. Now they are worth it even if they get
sick and don't behave on occasion.

Just who in the hell do you people think you are to question why anyone has
NOT mutilated another animal for YOUR convenience? You may not realize it,
but your blatant stupidity has prompted you to QUESTION why ***my*** cat had
kittens and why ***my*** family is enjoying it - why ***my*** family is
enjoying LIFE.

Here are some questions for self-righteous animal mutilators like you:

Why didn't your parents snip your balls or cut up your uterus when they
brought YOU home?

Oh, you ARE on birth control, aren't you?

Surely you aren't contributing to the dangerous population of HUMANS by
continuing to BREED, ARE YOU?

Don't you CARE? Don't you KNOW that humans are breeding out of control?? Why
aren't you doing YOUR part? The adoption centers for children are
OVERFLOWING. Fortunately, they aren't put to death - they're just thrown out
into society into the welfare system, so we ironically end up taking care of
them anyway.

owner's convenience. These so-called 'pet lovers' visit such unspeakable
atrocities upon their pets and then have the nerve to stand on the rooftop and
shout that they love and care for their pet. The reality is far different.
I wonder how man female cats have been afflicted with terrible clinical
depression and other mood disorders simply because their owner decided that the
'stylish' thing to do would be to have her ovaries cut out...?
Monsters. Unspeakable monsters. None of you who made this a reality for your
cats have any business taking care of anything, much less something as helpless
and dependent as a pet. They can't complain!

rights vs animal rights (to reproduce) is moot here. It's presumed that most,
not all, humans have the higher intellegence level and are able to determine
whether to produce offspring. Cats have no such option. The domestic cat does
not have a sure source of food and shelter. So, it's up to the human population
to assist. Since there is an overabundance of cats in the world, the logic
would be to halt the steady increase is said population. This can be
(partially) accomplished by spaying or neutering cats - both housepets and
feral colonies. The second, and no less important, benefit of this procedure
is the elimination of testicular or ovarian cancer.
