Happy Thanksgiving! (to Usians)
Today is Thanksgiving in the U.S.
I'm planning a small meal, roasted cornish game hen with cornbread dressing and steamed zucchini. I wasn't planning on making mashed potatoes because I hadn't bought any potatoes. My neighbor (owned by Schwartzie and Fedders) said, "OMG, I have a huge bag of potatoes! I'll give you some." So she gave me three good sized potatoes I'm a little sad today because this is similar to the meal I'd planned to make for my mom in November, 2008. I kept talking it up all through the month, trying to raise her spirits (and get her out of bed). "Mom, I'm going to cook a nice dinner for us! Cornish hen and dressng and all that. We'll have a nice dinner." In 2008 November 22nd was on a Tuesday, two days before Thanksgiving. She died that morning, five years ago today *But* I'm thankful I had her and she's always in my thoughts. Today's meal will be in her honor. I'm going to put a tablecloth on the table and use her china I hope she knows this, somehow. OB Cats: Persia will get a tiny little bit of the meat from the cornish hen as a treat. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Jill |

I gave him some turkey from my dinner. Rusty never had people food and it took him a while to realize what that was. The day after Thanksgiving he went to the Bridge. But I am thankful for the 15 years I had him. He was good company. My home just doesn't feel the same without his presence. I still have his ashes in an urn sitting in one of his favourite spots. -- Winnie |

I suspect your mother does know you're thinking of her and honoring her in this way. Joy |

Tonight I'll raise a glass of wine in honour of your Mom and all those loved ones missed at this time. Judith Thank you very much, Judith. http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/...ps32ec53d9.jpg That was dinner. The photo was taken when the food was not yet plated. (There wasn't a serving bowl for the zucchini; I suppose I could have used a soup bowl... hmm.) I didn't want to let it get cold so no more pictures, just eating! I lit the candle and said thanks to my mom for being my best friend ever. Persia was dancing around like she *knew* she was going to get something! Jill |

Jill Jill, that looks like a simple, yet scrumptious meal! Had it been at my house, that game hen would have never made it to the table, as Moe is our "chicken-hawk" (remember Henry, from the Warner Bros cartoons?) of a cat, always wanting any kind of meat we are eating, but especially loves chicken, and was in kitty-heaven when we doled out the "giant chicken" (turkey breast) leftovers we had -- ^..^ This is Kitty.
