Don't forget. This is one state out of 50, and there is tremendous
variation in climate and geographical
features across the U.S. In fact, this one state (I live in East Texas) is
so large that the weather in this
area would seem absolutely gorgeous to you this spring if you were just
considering what is "comfortable"--
beautiful blue skies, fantastic flowers, etc. However, the entire state
has been under drought, so you
would see the results of that in much of the state. If you were to travel
to another state, you would see
something entirely different; and everything would depend on the season and
the region of the nation. In this
area, the azaleas stopped blooming a couple of weeks ago, and I have planted
lots of seasonal bedding
plants. By contrast, my sister lives in Ohio, and they still have snow.

No rain here. I live in East Texas, and it is still extremely dry. Our
county
has now been placed on a fire ban/alert. There are wild fires in most
counties of the state (but nothing close to me, at this point--not even
smoke).

Glad you're ok. I live on outskirts of MileHigh but in urban setting
nowhere
near any of the fires, but if the fires are large enough (and two are)
the
strong winds bring us the gifts of smoke smell and fog (I like fog;
English
people I knew told me that was what gave them their beautiful
complexions).
Too late for that for me, but any moisture is good moisture around
here.
One fact adding to the dry situation is CO's "snowpack" in the
mountains
was very high where they go skiing (the famous resorts) but very *low*
snowpack on the part that MileHigh gets its water supplies from
runoffs
of the snowpacks in warm weather. Now the water cops (do you believe)
will be patrolling lawn-watering. Luckily they don't patrol condo
decks;
Snaggly and I now have an array of geraniums out there already.

Colorado is a beautiful state. My first visit was years ago, when I was
a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A group of
us drove out for the Colorado-Nebraska football game, and we spent a
day driving through the mountains. I have been there many times since,
and we always seemed to focus on mountainous areas of the state. Gorgeous!
