Our three pet cornsnakes would agree with you and Cat - "we're really adorable creatures, have cute little faces, smooth soft skin, a lot of curiosity, can get into mischief, we're actually quite intelligent (except when Lita gets in a dumb-and-dumber mode), and we're VERY people-friendly. Gotta love us!!" Jeanne |

I'm not phobic about snakes - I quite like them, and we don't have very poisonous ones here in Finland - but I am arachnophobic. Can't even look at a picture of a... one of those... with the eight legs. shudder I sat with my eyes shut in the movie theatre for the last part of LOTR (thanks again to Yowie for telling me when to shut them and when it was safe to open them). -- Marina, Frank and Nikki Now that's weird. I am terrified of snakes. I have an unfounded, neurotic fear that they are going to chase me. But I like sp--- sorry, those eight-legged critters. I have a beautiful one on my porch overhang. Gorgeous yellow and black color. It's an argiope, I've watched her all summer lure flies and such in her web, then ZING! She wraps them up in thread lightning fast. Grandaddies I don't mind either, or those jumpy ones that are always in the flower bed. I can ID a black widow or a fiddleback, they're the only ones I squash. Sherry I like 'em, too. They are interesting, and can be beautiful. One lives in my dahlias, and she keeps the bad bugs away. I loved him on first sight - I'd had snakes of my own when I was young, but we had to get his mother's approval. She was at work, so while I worked out what I'd say I told my son to put Stringy in an empty aquarium stored in the attic. Unfortunately he put the lid on crookedly, and Stringy disappeared. We searched frantically for him before I had to get their mother from work. Just as time ran out, one of us looked up at the top of the bedroom window, and there was Stringy coiled along the curtain rod! Somehow he must have climbed the drapes to reach his perch. Anyway, it all ended happily. I made a successful spiel on behalf of Stringy, and he became a member of our family. |
