Default Picture of Abby's "thumbs"

She is not the sharpest cat in this house. If she was smarter she might try
to figure out how to open things.

Yes, I was thinking the opposable thumbs coupled with a sharp wit could
lead to a lot of trouble. Maybe it's lucky that she isn't. She does look
sweet, though.

Trouble has the black version of those same paws. I've caught her
using the thumbs to hold straws and pencils while playing with them.
Although they are not opposable thumbs like people's, she does seem to
have some limited abilities that the two thumbless cats don't have.

I think something is keeping the smart cats from getting thumbs.
Trouble would be plain frightening if she had her thumbs plus the
intelligence of my Samson.

In the fantasy novel _Fire in the Mist_, one of the "majes"
(magic-users) gives her tomcat useable fingers, only to find out that
he has a fascination with matches, and will play with them, lighting
fires, whenever he has the opportunity.
