Default Any nail bitters here?

I noticed several times this week that Isabella bites her toe nails. I
trim each kitties nails at least once a month (I have hardwood floors)
Several times I have caught her back foot in mouth just a bitting, I
though maybe it was something stuck on her foot at first but then I
noticed that you can actually see where she is chewing the nails.
Just curious as to if any of your guys have nail bitters at home?

Yeah. That's how they eventually get that dead claw sheath off if it doesn't
come off scratching or jumping.

She has litterally chewed hers down to nubs. It dosent seem to bother
her though. I hate to call the vet if it is just something normal.

Yeah, Tucker does that a couple of times per week. I've never thought
of it as abnormal, since he's not obsessive about it. Is she obsessive
about it? Does she have any other obsessive habits (excessive grooming,
for example)?

She is very clean, I mess with her some times by wipping my damp hands
across her and then she will spend an eternity grooming herself. I
would not say it is obssesive, Just loud. I thought maybe they needed
trimmed again but they looked good to me.

Oo. Well, that is NOT normal. I wonder if she has an allergy and they itch.
I would definitely see a feline vet about this.

My little Cheeky does this. I think she just likes her feet
very clean.

I think I will get her check she has chewed them so short that they look
like they should hurt , but she lets me touch them etc. I am going to ask
for another blood work up to. I know in humans diabetes can affect the toe
nails. could it be the same in cats. Now I am worried.

Going way back, my Princess used to bite her nails. She was also a
compulsive "licker". If anyone stroked her she would immediately wash
that area. I figured it was stress from being on her own for a long
time. She eventually stopped the mail biting, but always cleaned herself
a lot. I still miss her. MLB
