Default A few purrs for my Beauregard

Greetings...

My Beauregard is having a rough month. First he got horrible acne on
his chin. Turn out he is allergic to the dry food my friend had given
me. And of course, I had mixed in the new food into the food bin with
the rest of the food. So Beau now has his own 20 lb. bag of food.
Keeping him from pushing in on his brother & sister's food bowls is
quite difficult though. That was 2 TED visits. But all's better.

EXCEPT... now for the past 3 days, he's been sneezing his little gray
head off. The stuff coming out of his nose is clear and I've been
super-paranoid making sure he's eating and drinking normally. He is
more lethargic (I know, how can we tell the difference :} ) and the
first couple days I think he had a light fever as his nose was warm and
his paws felt super-warm when he layed on me. However, he's not to a
point where I want to drag him to TED for the 3rd time this month.

So, if you could spare a few healing purrs, Beauregard and I would
appreciate it. I'm being a worry-wart Meowmie, but hey, that's my job.

Also, does anyone have suggestion on how I might make him feel better?
As I understand it, it's like the common cold. You just have to let it
take its course, unless he stops eating/drinking. He just looks so sad
when he goes into a sneezing fit.

Thanx!

Healing Purrs coming for your Beauregard. Unfortunately, I don't have
any advice to offer.

Regards and Purrs,

I hope he feels better soon! It doesn't sound serious, but I can
understand why you're worried - I hate to see any of my bunch looking
under the weather.

Also, does anyone have suggestion on how I might make him feel better?

You might try a little echinacea/goldenseal tincture. I think the stuff
tastes like dirt (literally), so he probably wouldn't like it very much,
either, but you might be able to disguise it in something more appetizing.
It stimulates the immune system and definitely helps fight off infections.

I also use colloidal silver for myself, and I think it's safe for cats,
too. (In fact, I found out the stuff existed on a cat health email list.)
It's extremely effective at getting rid of colds and flus.

I don't know where you live, but if you have a decent health food store
in your area, you should be able to find both of those things there.

I gave the echinacea/goldenseal tincture to Roxy when she had a major
respiratory infection during her kittenhood. It was so upsetting to me -
she couldn't breathe through her nose at all, and had to breathe through
her mouth, which looks so unnatural in a cat. I had her shut in the
bathroom, lying on a soft towel, with a humidifier going full blast, and
some peppermint oil in the humidifier's medication area. I don't know how
much it helped, but she's still with me, so it certainly didn't hurt.

Incidentally, in case you're worried that all of this sounds too off the
beaten track, I got these ideas from a vet (except the colloidal silver,
which, as I said, I got from a cat-health list).

Good luck, whatever you do, and many purrs for his quick recovery!
