Got a job interview! OT
This is kind of a weird kismet sort of thing. There's a small book
publishing company about 20 miles from me. They do those fundraising cookbooks that schools and church groups put together to raise funds as well as for people who want to publish their own family cookbooks and other books. I've been communicating with this guy via email for years. Must have been in 2000 when he sent me some cookbooks they had laying around. He asked me to try some recipes from an American Heart Association cookbook and write a review. That was a $60 hardback book! Painless as can be to try some recipes and write a review for a free cookbook... I already owned a couple of these books. Anyway, he sent along some other books he had laying around as a bonus. I use their Freeware to store my recipes and occasionally post to the food discussion board off their web site. Another "member" of the discussion board suggested I send him a resume, so I did. Well I'll be darned - he replied I must have been reading his mind because he was on the verge of looking for a tech support person! I'd be wearing many hats. Tech Support for their self publishing book software; phone customer service about book publishing in general. Some data entry (ISBN numbers, etc). Stuff like that. I think it would be fun working in a place that publishes primarily cookbooks... ya'll know I love to cook! He's going to call me next week with a day and time for us to meet to talk about this. He is already aware of my planned trip with John at the end of April and doesn't have a problem with it Jill |

That sounds so much like *your* job that I cannot believe it! Keeping
fingers and toes crossed and sending any purrs Laku and Nico can spare so you'd get it. In small companies you *do* get to wear a lot of hats, but looking at it from the positive side, it's not likely to get boring anytime soon. I sure hope you'll get it! -- Christine in Vantaa, Finland christal63 (at) gmail (dot) com photos: http://photos.yahoo.com/christal63 photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/chkr63 |

Yeah, I'm tired of the big corporate world where they don't care if you have a life. I wouldn't have to carry a pager or be on call 24/7 at this place. And I don't mind the idea of wearing many hats - keeps the boredom down There is nothing worse than being bored at your job, watching the clock. Jill |

out, so you can get some income again. Tweed ----fingers crossed. In Germany the phrase is "holding my thumbs" so I'll do that as well ;-) "jmcquown" wrote in message .. . I've had a couple interesting occurences in the find-a-job category this past week myself, but nothing as good as an interview. Luck with that - from what little I know of you, this does sound like it's made to order btw - what's the name of the company? I've been looking for something to store recipes in (other than my usual recipe box), and this must be some pretty cool freeware they've got. Jeanne Hedge, as directed by Natasha ============ http://www.jhedge.com It's available at www.cookbooks.com - it's called ShortCut. It's a very basic program and if you copy/paste (funny) you can't use keyboard shortcuts like Alt+C; gotta use the mouse copy/paste functions. But what the heck, it's free Jill |
