Amazingly, this one's not from Cute Overload. It's on a site for
the singer Willy Mason. He has a page of photos he took and this was the first one. (I love musicians who love cats. ) http://www.flickr.com/photos/1950164...7594089699411/ Joyce |

It's a collection of songs about cats, including a very funny song Cindy wrote called Rudy's Big Adventure. Rudy is the cat who got his head stuck in a garbage disposal (and lived to "meow" about it). I'm sure most of you have read the story of Rudy. The cat on the CD cover is Cindy's cat Alice. Cindy is married to folk musician/songwriter Steve Gillette. You can listen to clips from the CD at http://storerevenue.biz/compassrosemusic/cattales.asp , or visit their web site at http://compassrosemusic.com . Full disclosu I am their webmaster, and a lifelong cat lover too. |

Sounds like my kind of album. I couldn't listen to the clips, though - the javascript kept giving me "alerts" saying "rtsp is not a registered protocol". I've never seen sound files with an .rm extension, could that be the problem? Thanks, Joyce |

"rtsp" IS the standard protocol for streamed Real clips. You do need a player, either the (very old) RealPlayer or the newer RealOne. Maybe you don't have one of these players, or maybe you have a very old version? I suppose I should have an explanation of that on the web site, but I hadn't gotten to that yet. I use this format on all of my sites, and you are the first person who mentioned this problem - but maybe others just gave up. I am very happy you told me! If you don't have either RealPlayer or RealOne, or if you have an old RealPlayer (older than 7.0), let me know via a reply here (or you can email me if you'd like to not clutter up the newsgroup with my problemsolving). The "rm" extension is as old as the hills (well, many years old). It is the filetype for the encoding format used by Real. Often you see "ram" which used to be required for streaming, but is not required by recent players. I can assure you that you will love what you hear, so I will figure out a solution that works for you. |

I used to have Real Player, but then a few years ago, my C drive crashed. After replacing the drive, I went back to real.com to download Real Player again, but I found that they had completely redesigned the UI. I hated the new design, and I couldn't find a way to get the old version back again, so I gave up on it. I now either use iTunes, or more recently, I've been listening to pandora.com, rather than choosing the songs myself. I really like the element of surprise that comes with a "radio" station. Joyce |
