OT - Ping Joyce, Evelyn? re Adele

I don't remember who it was who first pointed me to the video of Adele
singing "Rolling in the Deep", *way* before she became so popular here
in the US. Just wanted to let you know that she won MTV's Video of the
Year award (major accomplishment going against some of the competition
she had this year) and she won it by a *wide* margin.

They're predicting that she'll sweep the Grammys this year.

I still have that video bookmarked on YouTube and play it several times
a week. Do you still have the original video bookmarked? I'd like to

You're asking the wrong person - I never even HEARD OF the artist in
question! (Only musical "Adele" I know of is the name of the coloratura
role in "Die Fledermaus".)

Sorry, my long-term memory hasn't completely returned, though it's
getting better, and my short-term memory is, I think, lost forever (I
was making a pitcher of iced tea this morning and had to ask Ben 6 or 7
times how many cups of sugar he uses).

I was wondering about including you in this question, Evelyn, as you've
never talked about being a fan of pop music.

Anyway, CN, yes, that was me. I can't really consider myself a fan of hers,
though. She has an interesting and powerful voice, but I'm not crazy about
the songs she does - mostly bland pop, IMO.

I'd never heard anything from her before you posted that link, so I
don't know her music in general. That song, and "Set Fire to the Rain"
were from the album she wrote right after her break-up with her
boyfriend, so there's a lot of heartache in it. A critic on the MTV
show said it's a pity that she had to suffer but she's the kind of
artist who writes best when they do.

Sorry about the mix-up, though, as I said I about have no memory left at
all.
