Cool! I hope it all works out. Maybe the mom cat will become a quite

tame
outdoor cat. That would be nice :-)

Britta

That is a possibility. My daughter has the impression that the cat is not a
feral, but rather a former pet who was dumped in the area. She's not
friendly, but she's not as spooked as a feral. She has been taking good care
of her babies, and looks good herself, so she must be very resourceful. I
guess you could say she's independent right now.
Anyway, Christine doesn't mind having a barn cat, but is upset with whoever
is responsible for the kitten situation. She said she'd love to give them a
bill.
Annie

Sounds a lot like Little Bit when she showed up here, though to tell
the truth LB wasn't doing all that great as she was awfully skinny,
and VERY pregnant. I know she was someone's cat, since I'd seen her
the previous summr wearing a flea collar. I let her inside out of an
icestorm and looked for the owners, but no one claimed her. Their loss
was definitely my gain. I got both LB and Sammy, who was born about a
week after LB moved in.

Still, I hope to hear in some future update that momma cat has be
captured and reunited with her babies.

Hi Steve,
The plan is to trap the mother cat and have her spayed as soon as possible.
Christine has a co-worker who has a trap she can borrow, and she has to make
arrangements with a vet who is used to dealing with not totally tame cats.
She wasn't able to do either of those things over the weekend.
Originally, she was hoping to give the babies more time with the mother, but
when the mother cat moved them, Christine was concerned that the babies
would rapidly become harder, if not impossible to catch, so she took them
when she got a second chance. She will continue to put food and water out
in the barn so the mother cat will hang around, but by the time she gets the
trap and lines up the vet, the cat might not want her kittens back, anyway.
Sometimes you just have to do the best you can with the circumstances.
Thank you for your concern and support.
Annie

Sounds like Christine is doing the best she can. I ended up making and
breaking a couple appointments for Rocky's neutering, since he was
still kind of wild at the time. Then, when I finally napped him he had
to stay at the clinic the night before surgery, since he wasn't
supposed to eat or drink anything. Like Britta, momma kitty may become
tame. When Rocky was neutered he was supposed to go to a friend as a
barn cat. I kept him here to make sure he recovered OK, and ended up
keeping him.

I've not been able to post on rpca for a while so I have missed quite a lot
it sounds as though Christine has recently lost a beloved cat, If I have
that
right,I send Purrs for Christine and the lost love, but maybe this poor cat
in the
barn * is* stealing Kitties, to give to Christine to help heal her
heartache, if
I'm wrong, well it's a nice thought to hold on to anyway Jean.P.

Goodness, yet another kitten??? If you come back with yet another

kitten
I'm going to start thinking mama is rounding up all the strays in the
neighborhood so Christine can find them homes!

Ahhh, it's so hard to say no. As you know I'm a sucker for a furry

face,
so
I will keep my two cents out on whether she should or should not keep!

If she were here I could offer her fostering help, but there's many more
miles between us. Please offer her my assistance if she has questions,
happy to help.

Congrats to you as a "foster gran-meowmie"

JoJo

That thought occurred to me, too, that the mother cat was stealing

kittens.
Poor Christine, I guess the cat noticed the "sucker" stamp on her

forehead.
As for the fostering, I think the hard part is that she is not associated
with a group to help her with the expenses and with placing the kittens,

in
case the initial offers don't work out.
I know she had a busy day at work, but I hope she finds time to give me or
call or send me an email update. I want to know how that little gray one

is
doing and if Christine has done more introductions to the dogs.
It's a good thing she kept all the stuff, even the kitten stuff, from her
departed cat. I'll let her know to contact you if she has any questions.
Thanks for the offer.
Annie

Jean, that is a nice thought. Christine's cat died about a year ago, and of
course, she still misses her. However, she had no trouble placing all the
kittens, and has trapped and vetted and spayed the mother cat, who will be
able to continue living in the barn.
