Abelard MIA
I'm just now reading this, at 11:20 PM. I hope he's safely home by now.
-- Joy **Don't believe everything you think** "Pat" wrote in message .. . He's been out for over 24 hours. This is the first time he's stayed out all night since the weather turned crisp. He doesn't have a thick fur coat and gets cold easily. I went out and called around for him before I went to bed last night, and figured I'd find him on the sofa this morning as usual, but he was not there. Haven't checked the barn at Gloria's yet but I was in that area most of the afternoon yesterday and should have seen him if he was around. I'll post again when he shows up, meanwhile some purrs would be helpful. |

Some of the very last pockets of unoccupied space are falling even today, such as suburban Washington, D.C. I've been hearing reports of them in some of the most urban areas here lately. I read an article that said the eastern coyote is larger than the western, more bold, and could be cross-bred with wolves. Coyotes have reached eastern Newfoundland. No one quite knows how they got across the Cabot Strait - swimming (!!!) and balancing on ice pans in the winter are two suggestions. I find the very idea of coyotes here astonishing - I associate them with cowboys and the American southwest - but here they are. If they're cross-bred with wolves, they did it before they came here as there are no wolves on the island. -- Cheryl Coincidentally, there was a news report on TV just this morning about pets recently being attacked here in Houston and the surrounding areas. More bold - not really; the western variety has all the chutzpah any animal is entitled to. Cross-bred with wolves -- I've never heard of it; I expect it's just rumor engendered by the larger size. -- Wayne M (indulged by Will and Heidi) |
