I saw on the news tonight About a calico cat named Willow that
disappeared five years ago in Colorado. She turned up in New york City
the other day. She was identified by a microchip and returned to her
family.

She obviously wanted to go to Broadway to star in "Cats"! ;

I Googled this and read the story. I love a happy ending like that! Five
years is enough time that the cat's original family had probably given up
on ever seeing her again, so this must be quite a surprise. But it's also
a short enough time that the family didn't miss out on most of the cat's
life. Some of those stories about people being reunited with their missing
cat after 12 years just make me sad - they missed being able to share most
of the cat's life. Willow looks pretty healthy and she probably has quite
a few years left in her. As long as she doesn't get out of the house again!
(Now that she's traveled far and wide, I wonder whether she'll be content
to be indoor-only?)

She's really pretty!

1600 miles is an awful long way to travel. If only they could
talk.

Oh, but they can, Adrian. It's just we don't understand the
language :-(

I just wish we had more stories out there like that. I can't abide the
news anymore because all the ugly stuff is too depressing. I'm so
happy to hear about a kitty reunion!

Blessed be,

I'm with you, sweetie, I have enough in my life to be depressed and hurt
about, I don't need to hear more horrible things on the news. I avoid
the news like the plague. Also: CSI shows where they show gross-out
corpses (I'm going to be one of those far too soon), crime shows about
serial killers (what are they doing, giving new ideas to psychopaths out
there on how to torture their victims, or anything else about killing,
torturing or harming ANY creature, animal or human.
