Someone once wrote that she wished I could delay having the boys
neutered because orinj-stripey boys can get so big. Well, I didn't
have any choice in when they were neutered, they were already
"fixed" when I adopted them at 10 weeks old.

Well, despite having been "snipped" very early, they both turned out
to be really large cats - not as large as my Samazon(RB), but 16 and
17 pounds big.

Whenever I'd clip claws I'd have a hard time clipping Sammy's, not
only because she fought me so hard, but because her paws and claws
were so darn *huge*. Her paw, spread out, could cover the entire
palm of my hand. Clippers had a hard time cutting through her
claws, I was thinking of buying large dog clippers for her before
she passed to the Bridge.

Well, claws haven't been clipped in a while and Ozzy's are looking
almost as big as Sammy's were. I may yet have to go buy those large
dog clippers.

Don't waste your money - (sharp) pruning shears work fantastically
well for large claws. They clipped Fluffy's claws (and she was a big
dog) when we couldn't even get her claws *into* the designated
dog-claw clippers. Usual safety precautions apply!

Pruning shears???!! Seriously or is that a joke? When I think of
pruning shears I think of those great, huge things that take two
hands to use when trimming hedges. Obviously I'm not an out-doorsy
person and have never gardened, so am I just picturing the wrong
thing?

Wrong thing - secateurs (sp?), little more than powerful scissors designed
for clipping off twigs (not branches)

Yowie

Ah, I figured it was some such. I'm definitely *not* a gardener and
have no idea what a secateurs, but I think I know what you mean now and
that would definitely do the job.

You can't stop either yourself or Ozzy being sad about Sammy, but
what you can do is give Ozzy lots of cuddles. Whilst it won't make
you less sad,the cuddles will do both your souls some good.

Yowie

Very sound advice Yowie - I really need to go hang out upstairs a lot
more. There's really no big difference from my bed and the sofa
(except all the conveniences of my meds and medical supplies on the
kitchen table we put next to my bed). If I do that I'll spend a lot
more time with Ozzy who tends to stay upstairs all the time.

This is him just a minute ago. Does he really look sad or is it just
me projecting?

Looks like an adorable sleepy cat to me, but I don't know him like you do.

Yowie

He seems to be fine now, so he was either just having a sad couple of
days or I was over-reacting - I'm prone to such after Sammy died so
suddenly.
