Unlike most of the warning I see on the net this one looks real! Definitely worth being sure you've got a good antivirus on your machine. |

It shuts down the AV system when it installs, or at least tries to. http://www.sophos.com/pressoffice/news/articles/2006/01/nyxemd.html is a link to a reputable virus/worm information source. It is interesting to note that Microsoft has a fix, but refuses to release it until after the trigger date. -- T.E.D. ) |

There really isn't a fix, as this isn't a vulnerability. This virus requires the user to open the file to get infected. There really isn't a fix for stupidity. Anyone running up to date antivirus software shouldn't have a problem. |

All those email offers, and prize notifications, and things that look too good to be true - *ARE NOT TRUE*. *DON'T* open up any file that is sent to you via email, even if it's from someone you know - check with them first. Set your email to read text only messages and disable all html and embedded graphics. And just use plain common sense! You're right, there is no virus software that can compensate for stupidity! -- Hugs, CatNipped See all my masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped/ |
