However, the girl on the yoga video I have looks like she doesn't have a bone in her body. She sits with her legs straight out in front of her and leans over and rests her face on her knees or stand and bends over forward with her face against her knees. My question is, do you become that limber with continued practice, or is this yoga instructor just double jointed or something? If you do become that limber, how long does it take? I'm practicing through the pain so my muscles will stretch and not stiffen up, but although I see some progress, I'm not there yet. Any advice? She *may* be double-jointed. And you many never get as bendy as she is. But my experience is that with practice, your flexibility can *always* improve, no matter how stiff you are. I can't really tell you how long it takes, since my experience is that if I practice consistently, I just find myself saying "Wow, I couldn't do that before." Or "I couldn't reach the floor before, and now I can." You see some difference, and that difference you see keeps you going. Hugs, CatNipped I used to do yoga, and I'm pretty limber. Haven't done it in years, though. DH recently started doing it, daily, and he is *very* stiff (no off-color jokes, please ;-) ). It seems to me that he has limbered up a bit since he started. But quite frankly, I think those people on those videos are just really limber, and most of us will never be able to perform the "Shovel Going Up the Tree" position in our lives. Nonetheless, that's not what it's about. It's about connecting to the Universe, particularly with breathing. It's the breath that's most important. So just do the best you can, breathe, and you're probably doing just fine! Ginger-lyn |

I have done lots of yoga over the past years. I think that you can't be
bendy without also being strong. Bendy can mean hyper-extended knees and other nasties, which are just plain weak joints. I'd rather be strong than super bendy. You can make yourself bendy in some areas by being strong in others. And as Ginger-lyn and Victor said ... its about connecting with the universe and the breath. What a wonderful practice!!
