Not to worry Clarence, weze like sending cards to effuryone because weze
wantz to and Meowmie sayz shez fortunate shez can afford it. But shez doez so because of the thought of the season, not because weze getz cards in return. And Kissamouse is an ecumenical holiday for us hoomins not tied to hoomin religions, after all, all cats honor Bast. So card or no, snail or e-mail it doesn't matter at all. Just a furry Happy Holiday of effury persuasion to Effuryone! Punkins & Puddi Cat |

That sounds like a wonderful idea Uncle Adam for kitties not in the US.
Package mail should be cheaper then first class, least it iz in the US anywayz. Punkins & Puddi Cat I just had an idea, but it might be too late for this year. What if someone who didn't live in the U.S. were to address and seal their cards, then send all the U.S.-bound cards in one box to a friend in the U.S.? Then the person in the U.S. could just put a 37-cent stamp on each card, which sends up to 1 ounce (28.4g) anywhere within the U.S., and drop them in any local mailbox. The "foreigner" could also include some form of currency or other items with the box of cards to cover the cost of the U.S. stamps. Does this make any sense? Would this save any money? I just had an idea, but it might be too late for this year. What if
someone who didn't live in the U.S. were to address and seal their cards, then send all the U.S.-bound cards in one box to a friend in the U.S.? Then the person in the U.S. could just put a 37-cent stamp on each card, which sends up to 1 ounce (28.4g) anywhere within the U.S., and drop them in any local mailbox. The "foreigner" could also include some form of currency or other items with the box of cards to cover the cost of the U.S. stamps. Does this make any sense? Would this save any money? Adam Unca Adam does some arithmetic: Assuming someone in the UK prepared cards to all 33 US addresses on the card list, and that each is not over 10g in weight, To post each individually is 33 @ 47p each = £15.51 To send them to one US address at Airmail "Letters" rate, allowing 30g for additional packaging, is 360g costing £6.88. US postage for these would be 33 @ $0.37 each = $12.21 which is £6.90 (at $1 = £0.56446). £6.88 plus £6.90 is £13.78 total. Net savings would be £15.51 less £13.78 which is £1.73 (i.e.£1 14s 7d and a farthing). If, for example, the sealed cards weighed an average of 7.5g each, then postage to send everything to the US would be only £5.40 instead of £6.88. The Airmail "Small Packets" rate would be even cheaper than this, but I have no idea how long it would take. Also, instead of trying to figure out how to send currency across the Atlantic, one could simply send the American a nice Compact Disc instead, or any other agreed-upon item worth roughly $12.21/£6.90. Postage rates are taken from www.royalmail.com and www.usps.com ; exchange rate is taken from http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic . Adam, recovered geek -- email: rubin AT bestweb DOT net |
