Grin, no harm there! We are 'low meat eaters' here. (meat to me is also seafood, a difference across the pond generally used by most here). It's due to cholestrol issues so we use it more as a garnish much of the time. I have a kidney problem (nephropathy) and had to restrict my protein intake. I figured the easiest way to do that was stop eating meat (I never liked seafood). -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

"Marina" wrote in message ... How about a strange-things-my-cat(s)-will-eat thread? We haven't had one of those for while. I'll start with Mir, since her list is shorter: - cheese - yoghurt - sweetcorn, preferably off the cob - orange juice (yes, she's one of the few cats in the world who don't mind citrus fruit) She does NOT eat anything that comes packaged with a picture of a cat on it, like dry or wet food, or cat treats. The only things manufactured for cats that she will eat are her supplement pills. Those she regards as treats, which is lucky for me, since the only food she eats is raw meat. Then on to Caliban. Brace yourselves. - anything dairy, cheese, yoghurt, milk (I use a low-lactose milk that doesn't give him any problems, same with the yoghurt) - cucumber (he begs for it, here's a short video of him eating the end of a cucumber, but he was confused by the camera shoved in his face. Usually he will eat a big piece like this in no time: http://www.youtube.com/user/frankien.../1/HVOdb0a6AbY) - tomato in any form, fresh, tinned or sundried (begs for this too) - courgette (zucchini) - bread - potatoes, potato peel - beet peel - sweetcorn, off the cob, frozen, tinned, doesn't matter - uncooked dry pasta, fresh pasta - tinned beans, refried beans - and anything that comes in a packet with a picture of a cat on it Surprisingly, Mir likes catnip more than Caliban. Mir goes bonkers over it, while Caliban just hunkers down and eats it. Boyfie refuses to eat anything that does not come out of a packet, box or tin unless it has a picture of a cat on it. Unless it is roast chicken or a bit of roast beef, he will make an exception for that. He will not eat any vegetables at all, he thinks they are poisonous as is most human food. KFC would eat anything, but he got rescued before he had her hard life. She loved gravy on mashed potatoes and any veg, especially brussels sprouts, because that's what she got when she was fed by neighbours when they saw her as a stray. Luckily, Kitty Farmcat brought him here, as a lost teenager before he lost his taste for nice cat food. I know he was loved by his posh collar and despite advertising I never found his owners. Pity they did not neuter him then. Their loss, my gain. He is wonderful. Tweed |

I have her on a video that June took in the 90's when she was living outside and June says "what a pretty little cat". I'd like to get it on DVD. Pity they did not neuter him then. Their loss, my gain. He is wonderful. We love Boyfie. So do I. If there was ever a cat to convert a dog owner, it's himself. He is gentle and has no idea how to scratch or bite. If there was ever a cat to remind a dog owner why they didn't want one, it was KFC, she was always horribly grumpy and would slash you to bits if you put a foot wrong. I still loved her though, she was tiny, brave & feisty with attitude. Good job otherwise she would not have survived outside for so long. No cat dare come near her "what, you look at me? you are one dead cat.." She weighed 5lbs, looked like a kitten. One of my favourite memories is when she got fed up with the neighbouring cat "The Enemy" bullying Boyfriend. He came into the house overnight to carry on his terrorism and she chased him up the walls of the kitchen. He made so much noise screeching in fright that it woke me up and I came downstairs to see what was going on. He'd made Boyfie's life such a misery for a while that I just watched. The Enemy had not expected this at all. I swear he never touched the floor until he found the door and she still pursued him and pinned him down outside, giving him a good bite. This big cat, 12lbs probably, never knew what hit him. She came back inside, metaphorically wiping her hands "that should sort it then, Boyfie!" It did. That cat never dared step foot in Boyfie's garden ever again, he moved away later luckily. Kitty was quite elderly even then but she was not having that. It disturbed her sleep ;-) Boyfie does not fight, he's a pacifist, so he just looked on from the sidelines, cheering her on.. Kitty Farmcat was an amazing cat. Tweed |
