No, I took *3* stool softners last night and 3 Ducolax (which is a
stimulative) and then *4* more Ducolax this morning.

I figure if I go to the hospital, downtown, that is associated with
the surgeon's clinic (and where I actually had one of the tests
done) they would be able to get the test results.

The surgeon did call, but I was in an interview and had my phone
turned off and he is *supposed* to call back!

Please consider going to the ER. What Liz said got me thinking. My
dad had his intestines pouring their contents into his body a year and
a half ago, and he came very close to dying even though he went to the
hospital as soon as the pain got bad.

Well, I finally had results from all the laxatives - sorry for the grossness
and TMI! It seems I go from nothing to too much with no in between, which
has been the case for a while now. It seems to me that nothing "solid" will
get through my intestines, but liquids will (again, sorry for grossness and
TMI).

So I'm going to put off going to the ER for one more day and hope to hear
from my surgeon tomorrow. If I don't hear from him by around 11:00 AM
tomorrow I'm going to take myself into his office and demand to be seen!

I'm hoping that the fact that he looked at my results and tried to call me,
but didn't tell the nurse to keep calling me to have me rush into the
hospital is a sign that it's nothing too major.

Called the surgeon's office again... he still hasn't called me
back. Called my PCP's office and asked them to get the test

My upper stomach is getting more distended, I can't eat, I'm
still not going to the potty (after *8* Ducolax in the past 24
hours), the pain is worse. I'm at the point of checking myself
into the ER and screaming *SOMEBODY DEAL WITH THIS*!!!!

I'm so sorry CN. Sounds so very uncomfortable. Maybe you should go to
the ER and see if they can do something to help even if temporary.

I hope you tell him how his lack of a call has only made your
condition worse. These things are worsened by stress and anxiety, and
you've had a lot of that.

I would recommend calling his medical practice's phone. It probably
rolls over to a answering service after hours, and there is probably a
physician or registered nurse on call who can call you back. Explain
the circumstances to them and ask their advice on whether you should
go to the hospital tonight. If his phone number doesn't roll over to
such a service, and there isn't a medical hotline in town you could
call for advice, I would recommend going on to the hospital.

If you do have a ruptured colon, the resultant infection will be
life-threatening. I know a lady who had such a thing happen; she
ended up spending close to a month in the hospital, and came very
close to dying from the peritonitis.

Please keep us informed on how you are doing.
