Default Miss Chloe............

I haven't had much time to read the group lately, so I'm sending purrs out
to all who need them.

I *do* have a story to tell, though. (chuckle)

We had a friend over this past weekend (I worked, but he's a friend of my
hubby's so they got a chance to hang out). I got off of work Saturday night
and wasn't quite tired yet. I had to do the "unwind" thing, you know. So,
I was sitting up in bed reading, when I hear this shrill cat scream. It
sounded like a cat being beaten or something. Then I hear "Christy,
Christy!" from our friend who had fallen asleep on the couch.

I ran into the living room to see Miss Chloe, arms stretched apart in
crucifix position, hanging from the side of the couch! I had to lift up her
body to ease up the pain in her shoulders in order to unclaw her from the
couch fabric.

We've always said that she's not too bright and this act proves it. There's
a reason why we call her Miss Sticky Paws. This is not the first time she's
gotten stuck, but both paws at the same time? Arms totally stretched apart?
It alarmed me at the time, but I had to laugh my *ss off afterwards. She
was no worse for wear and immediately ran into the back bedroom. I had to
wake my husband up to tell him the story and we shared a great laugh. Maybe
you'd have to know this cat to fully understand the humor, but if you knew
all the dumb situations she puts herself in, you'd have a good chuckle, too.
:~)

Oh, this happened one pawed to Pearl once when I first got her. It was
scary as hell because her yelling set Grant off and he got afraid and
was trying to attack her! She gets that way and I just make sure her
nails are trimmed. Just taking the very tip off helps immensely. Poor
Chloe!!!!

Was she stuck facing *away* from the couch? (When I think of
crucifixes, I picture the crucifee facing outwards.) Probably not -
at least I hope not.

Maybe Miss Chloe would accept getting clippy-claws? Betty used to
hate having her paws handled, but has gotten very much used to getting
manicures.

I was thinking of Pearl too when I read about Chloe. Trimming lasts
fairly long too. Cat claws don't seem to me to grow very fast. Even
clipping once every three weeks or so keeps things relatively neat.

It's not funny, but it's funny, do you know what I mean? It's almost a
daily occurence that she gets herself stuck. I have to take her to the vet
to get her claws trimmed (at $35 a visit) because if she's held, she bites.
She's so fussy!

Okay, this proves it. Another TED trip is in order for the girl.

No she was face forward, but I couldn't think of any other descriptive way
to relate the story. Her arms weren't even in a "Y" shape - they were in a
"T". Like I said, I was alarmed at first, but when I realized that she was
fine, I just had to laugh. She has never, ever learned how to use her claws
properly. She doesn't detract them, she digs in deeper.

Ooh, that sounds sort of expensive. I wonder if there are pet
groomers who would do this? It seems cost inefficient to have someone
who went through years of school and has tons of medical knowledge
clipping nails.

I never thought of a pet groomer, believe it or not. Huh. I wonder how
much one would charge for that? I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the
suggestion.

I think the techs at my vet do the clipping - I only pay $14
(which I thought was bad enough).
