He had an endoscopy and they found esophageal cancer. I'm very scared,
though both of my parents are acting like it's no big deal. I think for my
dad he at least finally has a diagnosis, but while I braced for this one,
it's hard to hear cancer is what it is. I'm going to go with what they told
me his prognosis is rather than what I found on the net.

Thanks for the purrs and we're purring for him and those in need. Patches
is a very proficient purrer.

((((Cheryl))))))))) You and your Dad will absolutely be in my prayers.
And let me tell you about a guy I worked with 10 years ago. He'd just
had bypass surgery, then was diagnosed with esophogal cancer. He was
probably 68 or so at the time; he beat both of them and is still
around.
That's all I know about that particular illness; but I hope it's
encouraging
to you.

Purrs will definitely continue. If they're saying the prognosis is good,
I'd definitely listen. A positive attitude helps immensely.

It's odd that today I was talking to a lady at work, and she was telling
me that her husband has this. He is having treatment and his prognosis is
very good.

Be realistic. While the stage at diagnosis and the treatment given
make some difference, the overall 5-year survival rate is about 7%.
It's one of the most lethal of all cancers.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes, positive energy and purrs. I know
this is serious and I can't reply to all of you because I will just cry and
cry. I think the reality set in with my parents because while mom sounded
ok the other night, she was crying tonight and already planning jobs around
the house to get it ready to sell.

Oh Cheryl, I hope that this is very treatable (I think it can be).
Please know I am thinking of and praying for you and your family.
