A family of 4 feral cats has been living in my parents' front yard for the last 6 months (snip) Hi Sheri, good luck to you, but I came across this wonderful group that has TONS of information Trap/Neuter/Release. You'll have to join the group, but I found an absolutely amazing amount of information for the newbie trapper. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/feral_cats/ |

You'll have to join the group, but I found an absolutely amazing amount of information for the newbie trapper. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/feral_cats/ Hi --- I'll definitely check it out. I know it's going to be difficult to trap the one remaining female. I released her mom, sister, and dad today. The 2 females were spayed a week ago, and I wanted to give them recovery time. I had also hoped to hold them until I caught Little Sister, but they seemed so miserable in the cage. Daddy cat was neutered yesterday. He was relaxed last night, but was thrashing around in the cage this morning. I let him go because I was afraid he'd injure himself. He's very feral. I also ended up trapping and neutering another male who was trying to mate with Little Sister. I guess that's one was of keeping her from getting pregnant, but I know if she keeps going into heat, I can't catch all of her "suitors". More will definitely show up. Sheri |

well one suggestion that worke to trap my two ferals(one in 99 one in
last summer...take a dog cage (the plastic kind...i used a 24" long vari kennel with a string tied to the door on side which opens...and when they walk in pull it...this was used for trapping right outside the slidding glass door...the back of cage must be against something cause you will be pulling string and using it as a brace...so might use a stake or two in ground if this is being done far away from deck... also yopu need to hold it real tight cause they will be pushing to get out...might want to have a glove to protect hand when you latch the door... good luck...hope you can get her spayed asap ps the first cat nknew me for a week as i fed couple cats around him the second cat was only her 3rd day showing up and she was much more afraid0-had to feed her and leave but first would let me watch him eat...ferals make great cats once they tame-they are very bonded to the tamer(my exp with hershey and lucy) |
