[Amelia loads up a plate until it's about to spill over, then while she munches on turkey and rast beast and lopster she ask Archibald some questions.] So, Archibald, down below you said that contraction took two years. How wide is this top section? It's wider than I expected. And wide are the legs near the bottom? Archibald: Well, this top part is 17 feet wide, and down at the bottom the legs are 54 feet wide. Between the steel and the concrete, this whole thing weighs more than 17,000 tons! Harri, muttering softly: Huh, that's even more than Amelia weighs. Mosey laughs out loud at what Harri said about Amelia' weight . |

Those tug boats are mostly engine! They're very powerful. Archibald |

I'm Archibald, and I'll be leading you through your visit of the monument today. It was built between 1963 and 1965, and stands 630 feet tall! The Arch has an internal tram system to get humans to the viewing area up top, but we also have a much faster elevator system for kitties (and cat-friendly doggies) that gets us to the secret viewing area at the very top. humming "take me out to the ball game Because of the way the tower is aligned, it's not possible to see to the north or south with the telescopes. But we have telescopes mounted outside feeding video screens, so you can look through them that way. This screen here is connected to the north camera, and this one to the south camera. You can point them and focus them with these joysticks. Using the north camera, you can see the Mississippi River here, and the Missouri River here, and here is where they come together. And from this altitude you can see a secret campground, only accessible to kitties and there guests. No humans have ever seen it! Yes, there it is. And if we zoom in a little - yep, there we are. Those two big RVs just pulling in? Those kitties and doggies were up here visiting just before you folks. If you are looking for a place to spend the night, I highly recommend that campground. It's really beautiful! But around sunset it tends to have LOTS of mosquitos, so be sure to take plenty of bug repellant. Archibald |

In fact, I think I'm about ready to head that way. How about everybody else? Archibald, thank you for a truly wonderful tour! ANd that buffet was wonderful. If you get an opportunity, you're welcome to pay us a visit at the campground. I believe Fluffy Kitz stocked up the fridges in the RVs, so we can offer you a nice little dinner tonight. Amelia |
