(GAUBSTER2) wrote in message ...
Gaubster, socialism and communism are completely different systems.
Educate yourself.

Liberalism eventually leads to Socialism which eventually leads to Communism.
Show me where the checks and balances are that would keep one thing from
leading to the next?

Gaubster, according to the dictionary, liberalism is:

- A political orientation that favors progress and reform
- An economic theory advocating free competition and a self-regulating
market and the gold standard

The definition of capitalism is:

- An economic system based on private ownership of capital

Now, isn´t the USA both capitalist and "liberalist"? Doesn´t the USA
advocate free competition and a self regulating market? Isn´t there a
law in the USA prohibiting monopoly?

So, has liberalism led the USA to socialism? Has the socialism in the
Scandinavian countries and Holland (which are, btw, also "liberalist"
and "capitalist" - businesses can be privately owned) led them to
communism? These countries have been socialist for who knows how long
while communism was "born" in 1917 with the Bolshevic revolution, when
Lenin took over inspired by Karl Marx´s "Capital."

I am under the impression that you never read a book or a newspaper in
your life. It appears that everything that you know comes from gossip,
mainly from people who want to manipulate your vote. We have a lot of
that here too. The political party of our current president will say
any lie about anyone or anything to convince people to vote on them.
They will play very dirty to win an election (does that ring a bell?).
Their hyprocrisy knows no bounds. And those people who do not read
either because they can´t (illiterate) or because they are too lazy to
do so, buy it. Now we are stuck with a man who´s doing nothing but
sinking the country and traveling around the world spending our money
with nonsense (does that ring another bell?).

Adding a note to you post...

There is a debate among scientists that while the increase in the
concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere leads to the
greenhouse effect, i.e., global warming, the increase in pollution
leads to the opposite by blocking sunlight. The concentration of
carbon dioxide and pollution have been increasing since we started
burning fossil fuels. When there are no more fossil fuels to burn
(apparently our crude oil reserves will last only another 50-100
years) then we will see the drastic effects of a high concentration of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere since the pollution will settle way
faster then the carbon dioxide consumed. Then Gaubster will see that
global warming is no leftist conspiracy if he´s still alive.

Empty space whose soil is polluted with chemicals, empty space whose
soil is too poor to produce enough food to support a rich ecosystem â€"
what good is that?

Maybe in Brazil, but not here in the US.

Not in Brazil, dear. We have the richest ecosystems of the planet and
the greatest number of plant and animal species too - by far. Ever
heard of the Amazon, or the Pantanal, or the "Mata Atlantica"?

Kerry's scandals are coming out too, Liz. Just keep an ear out.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I remember reading that the
republican senator who pointed the greatest number of fingers at
Clinton was later discovered to be involved in some wild orgies.

Bush blaimed Clinton for not investigating that company that was
messing around with their accounting and Clinton was called before
senate (I actually saw Clinton being interviewed by the senators on
TV). Do you know what Clinton said? He said that he wanted to
investigate that and other companies but REPUBLICAN SENATORS did not
allow him to.

And how can you even mention a depression if the unemployment rate was
the lowest in 30 years? I do remember seeing something along those
lines but Bush was already in office. That was what? Maybe two years
ago? Since Bush took office, 2,5 million jobs were lost in your
country.

And finally, you do not need to worship the "environment". You just
need to know that your life and everyone´s life depend 100% on the
environment. So it is in your best interest to preserve it.

You are wrong. I'm talking Clinton's OTHER scandals. The ones in Arkansas and
the other White House scandals.

Do you know what Clinton said? He said that he wanted to
investigate that and other companies but REPUBLICAN SENATORS did not
allow him to.

Clinton is a liar. What did you expect him to say?
Not to mention that if he really WAS a leader...why didn't he just go ahead and
do it? Because he didn't ever want to rock the boat and mess with his poll
numbers. That's why he never retaliated against the terrorists during the 8
years he had.

And how can you even mention a depression if the unemployment rate was
the lowest in 30 years?

Liz, do go back and reread what I ACTUALLY SAID. I said a recession, not a
depression. There's a tremendous difference!

Since Bush took office, 2,5 million jobs were lost in your
country.

That's simply not true. It's a popular number to throw out there, but I've
never seen anything to back it up. AND you're forgetting all of the new job
creation that has taken place.

Unlike a certain Mr. G. W. Bush...

Any proof of that, Cathy??

Hey, you want to view GWB as environmentally friendly, go right ahead. But
then you'd better not pay attention to his record environmental issues,
'cause you'll be sorely disappointed.

You still haven't provided any proof.

As you well know, dictionary definitions don't always describe terms as they
are "popularly" known. For example, when you compare the dictionary
definitions of Liberalism and Conservatism you'll likely see vastly different
definitions that don't define these modern day movements.
