Poor thing! From your description, it sounds like it was the right
time. May Tess find a peaceful path to walk. Purrs for those left
behind to mourn.

Regards and Purrs,
O J

It was probably the right time, she only went about 500 yards into her walk
in the fields which she always enjoyed before she wanted to turn back, and
that what made them decide to consult TED again. I suspect they knew what
would happen when they did.
The vets here are extremely sensitive. If you take your animal with
something like a cough - like they did - and get a terminal diagnosis - they
understand how shocking it is, and that it's not possible to make your mind
up right then with no mental preparation.
You are sent away with about a week's worth of strong painkillers. It gives
you time to come to terms and decide in your own time.
I was very fond of Tess myself. My late mother and I sometimes took her for
a lovely walk amongst fields and gravel pits where we could get our
binoculars out and birdwatch in the hides there.
Tess was as quiet as a mouse when we had our bins up to our eyes. Never
moved a muscle.
Bless her little cotton socks.
She will be sadly missed.

I'll pass all the purrs, prayers and thoughts on to her devastated mom & dad
in a week or so, when they've got over it slightly.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts,

Tweed

We will pray for Tess' safe journey to the RB. She will be happy there.

This is not confined to cats. My neighbours have three dogs, an English
pointer, a Springer Spaniel and a Border terrier, all bitches. They are
expected to share the same bed, which isn't really big enough. It's okay
if
the pointer gets in first, the others arrange themselves around her.
*But*
if the springer and border get in ahead of the pointer, she can't get in.
The first thing she does is to grab a toy and play with it in front of
them.
This will sometimes have the effect of luring the springer out to play
with
the toy and then Tess the pointer will then rush into the bed and lie
down.
If this fails, she will go to the back door and pretend she can see a
cat.

This works always. Both the others will rush to the back door and ask to
be
let out. Tess then settles herself in the bed.
She needs purrs, actually. She's had a cough for a while and started to
lose weight. TED says she has a growth in her chest, pressing on her
heart.
Her hoomins are considering what to do. She is 13 and they adore her.
They
know what they need to do, but have to come to terms with it soon. Purrs
needed that they can face this decision. She's such a lovely d*g.

Poor doggy. We will light a candle for her, and send purrs to all
that will miss her.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Hugs and purrs for your neighbour. I will
light a candle for Tess. :-(
