Default High Drama on the High Seas

There is news from Antarctica that may concern some kitties. Animal friend
Bob Barker has donated 5,000,000 tunas to buy a ship for the Sea Shepherd
Society and it has rescued sailors from the Andy Gil vessel that was rammed
by the Japanese whaling ship just recently.
I knew the Andy Gil was rammed, but the Sea Shepherd Society web site was
hacked today and I didn't learn of the existence of the Bob Barker, (the
name of the new ship), until late today. You can read more about it at :
http://www.seashepherd.org/news-and-media/news-100105-4.html and there are
other stories too.
Lets hope this is the end for killing Whales, and may Bast Bless Mr Barker
for his generosity and strength of spirit.
Whales are our siblings. Let them live.

Fred

I just found the video of the ramming of the Andy Gil. It's at:
http://www.seashepherd.org/matilda/video.html
You can see the whaling ship change course to cause the collision which
means it was deliberate and not an accident. The Andy Gill had a crew of
seven.

You sure don't want to see the videos of them harpooning a whale then. That
is really bad.
The part that the Sea Shepherd likes to point out is how desperate the
Whalers are to resort to this sort of thing. I am reminded of Gandhi's
words, "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you,
then you win." The Japanese have just about run through this cycle and they
can't afford to keep sending whaling fleets down to Antarctica to come back
with too few whales, especially when they have to bring security crews and
extra ships to try to track the Sea Shepherd's ships, which failed this
time. Paul Watson is just way too smart for them he always finds a way to
out fox the Japanese fleet.
The Andy Gil is sinking today, and that's going to bring a lot of support
for the Sea Shepherd Society. Especially since the attack was obviously
deliberate. The tide of world opinion is mounting and the actions of the
whalers does not withstand scrutiny.
