Panther update--goodbye Splint!
O Kaloo Kalay, O Frabjous Day! Mr. Splinty has gone away!
The soft bandage has not, and we have one more bandage chage to go next week, as Dr. McKenzie doesn't want to just remove all support until Pan has had a chance to build some muscle tone back in his leg. But the x-ray showed that the fracture has knit together solidly enough so that Pan will be able to gradually resume normal function, now. His poor little leg is thin and atrophied, so it's good he still has some support for his bones and joints right now. But Dr. McKenzie says they just love Pan, because he's such a good, cooperative patient. As long as Pan is firmly held by a technician, he'll just lie still and growl while his bandages are changed. But he doesn't try to scratch or bite. Dr. McKenzie said he'd had a cat in the previous day who had to be sedated before they could do ANYTHING for it. |

Karen wrote in message ... YeaHHHHHH! Happy Dance That's more activity than Pan is demonstrating, right now. =o) He's in the closet for his Post Vet Sulk. He does that every week though, so as soon as he gets hungry, he'll cheer up and come out to be a nice kitty, again. But it's a great relief, to me. I was all prepared for "Sorry, his little leg is just not healing right. I think we may have to do surgery on him..." Melissa |

That's great :-) And, oh, yeah, vets *adore* cooperative patients (both the furry and human kinds -- lol). I went in one time with Cosmo, and it apparently had been a bad day for the vet -- not *one* cooperative kitty Now, Cosmo is sometimes cranky, but he did his best good kitty impression that day, so the vets at least got to see one well-behaved kitty at the end of the day. He had to go in to his regular vet today, as opposed to his broken leg vet, to give a blood sample to make sure he's getting the right dosage of his daily meds. This being only two days after being x-rayed and RE-re-re-re-re-bandaged for the nth time on Tuesday, he was in NO mood to return to TED's office--ANY TED's office. He complained loudly all the way home. Ah, the care of a geriatric pussycat can be a complex matter. =o) I'll tell you honestly, I'll be very glad not to have to make weekly trips to the vet when this is all over. As happy as Pan will be to be rid of all the bandages. Melissa |
