, but my neighbour does and when she wants to go on
holiday she has a beauty therapist come to her home the week before for
not much money, apparently and sort her out. Do you have this service
where you are?

Tweed

Yes. However, it's not really the expense, it's the embarrassment factor
that stops me. If I were young with firm skin and a bit of peach fuzz
where it shouldn't be I'd give it a try - but sadly that ship has long
since sailed. ;

Don't be so daft. People with firm skin and peach fuzz don't need a
beauty therapist.
I'm sure that you would not need to be embarrassed, they've seen all sorts
after all.
Myself, I've decided to age gracefully. I have some grey hairs now. I
will not dye my hair for vanity. I like to think of my grey hairs being a
sign of wisdom through experience.

Any beauty terapist who has done a "Brazillian" wont be bothered by "bikini
line", thats for sure!

I usually just shave, but my daughter said waxing is *much* better

TMI! Wax is a pain (literally) Try Nair or something similar but
keep the stuff away from the cats!

As a teenager, I tried Nair once on my legs and remember

1) My legs turned red and hurt
2) No sign of it actually making any attempt at removing hair from my
legs

Given #1, I wouldn't dare to put it near anything as sensitive as ...
eek! (Granted, it was about 15 years ago and the formula may have
improved since.)

Hmph! When my leg hair started coming in at puberty, my mother insisted that
if I shaved it would come back thicker and thicker, and handed me the Nair.

So there I am, in the bathroom, standing with stinking, stinging cream all
over my lower legs, and with my arms up in the air so the stinking, stinging
cream could be on my pits. And I waited the minimum 5 minutes. Nothing. At
10 minutes, still nothing. At 15 minute (the maximum time allowed) I was in
so much pain it was an incredible relief to get the bloody stuff off me
(that, and I could lower my arms, so that the feelign returned to my hands).
Whilst *some* of hte hairs looked slightly sickly, there was still an
adequately embrassing crop there. Not knowing what else to do, I grabbed my
mother's razor and removed them, not noticing the hypocrisy of my mother
having a razor but insisting I used cream.

I have no idea what sort of hair Nair works on, but it ain't mine.

I get my chin waxed now, but only because people at work stared staring at
it. Blimmin heck that hurts! One day I'll afford to get it lasered off
permamantly. I joke that the hair on my head (which is now noticably thin
at the front) fell through. Dont I just love hormones?

This exact scenario has happened between me and Dennis on several

gotten to the point where I'm not willing to try again. If only my

lasered off in Thailand. But alas, I am destined to shave
forever...

Why does the color of the hair affect getting it lasered?

Dark hair transmits the laser energy to the follicle (thereby kiling it) far
better than light hair for some reason. It would be pointless lasering
blonde hair, as hte follicle just wouldn't die at a safe level of energy.

LOL. I once tried bleaching my leg hairs. I bought some stuff that
was designed specifically for that. It was weird - all the hairs on
my legs were bleached blond, but then they suddenly started growing,
and grew to about twice their normal length. I have naturally dark
hair, so within a week I had these long, two-tone hairs on my legs.

So much for that idea!

Default [OT] Bikini Waxing (from someone qualified to do it!)

CatNipped,

I used to do this for people a few years ago. It was one of my least
favourite jobs, the worst was waxing underarms!
The reason I disliked it so much was that I knew that no matter how well I
did the procedure, it was going to hurt!
If you are really bothered and do not have sensitive skin, I would go for a
hair removal cream from your chemist.

If you do want another person to wax you, get a professional waxer to do it.
Believe me you will not be a problem, and a good one will save your modesty
by placing paper towels etc in stategic places. Your partner is not likely
to have done it as it should be done, but it did make entertaining reading!

It reminded me of the Mel Gibson film, 'What Women Want'. If men had to
undergo this, attitudes would change rather fast!

That's right, you explained it much better than I ever could.
Funny story. Many of my girlfriends in Bangkok were having their bikini
line lasered, it was really cheap. I explained why I couldn't have it
done, but expressed confusion over how my friend Meghan could do it
because she's a redhead too. In typical southern American fashion, she
said to me: "Girlfriend, my luggage doesn't match!"
Got a good laugh out of that one!

LOL, I got my first grey hairs when I was 13, what does that make me?
Wise beyond my years? P By 25, I had completely silver hair, and by
35 it had turned completely white. I don't dye it, and never did,
except when I was around 17-22 or so, when I had all the colours of
the rainbow in my hair, but that wasn't to hide the greys. That was
to be 'cool.'

The hair on the top of my head has been grey since I was 26 or so. The
rest of my hair is still reddish blond. If I didn't dye it, it would
look ridiculous. I've been colouring it myself for almost 10 years.
It's easy, I just pick a colour that's close to my natural colour and it
blends right in.

No, but i very much embrace is philosophy. In our house, we're the Bears.
Mama bear, Papa Bear, and Little Bear. Someone even mentioned what an
unusual name "Karibeir" was, and was it German? No, we laughed, its just
"Cary", "bear" is just a pet name we have for our little bearcub - cute but
fierce :-)

I gave up dying my greys out when I gave up shavng my legs & pits. Joel
doesn't notice anything above the shoulders or below the belly button anyway
