Default Purrs needed (OT)

I now have a not so moral dilema.....I always thought the length of
time this has taken was wrong.....I've also had some issues with a
particular interview the manager said was being held as part of a
disciplinary investigation then gave me 10 minutes notice of the
meeting and as she couldn't get a union rep (you can't at 8.30)
rounded up one of my colleagues to be a witness and gave me no choice
(Well she said "Is it okay if Steve sits in?" I felt highly
uncomfortable saying "No" given he was sitting there- it would have
been different if she had called me in advance) but so far as I
understand the policy she needed to give me more notice and allow me
to organise representation...she had confused one interview she had to
do with another one..... Duh! I think..only it's all complete
gibberish- it sort of looks and feels wrong but policies seem to be
designed to keep the ignorant just so....

I have a friend, well yeah I have loads of those, he's a non
practising barrister- he fast tracked into the civil service as a
graduate trainee and is a senior policy officer in the parliament
office or something like that- (let's just say he's a junior Whitehall
mandarin) so he spends his time reading very complicated documents so
given the union were being sod all help I sent him her and my
statements and the relevant polciies----just to see if he could spot
anything- as his ST in my Vampire game I know he's bloody smart and
devious so if anyone could....

He came back an hour or so after and said he had spotted some
inconsistencies and would I like him to put them in a document? Do
ursines excrete in arboreal environments?

He found 7 points where either policy had not been followed or it was
open to interpretation as to whether it was followed....
His final conclusion was legally he thought I had a very strong case
to take a grievance out against the manager concerned,,,,and this from
someone who admits he didn't do much employment law?

Now I have until Tuesday to put my final submissions in- 2 people (he
was one of them) have told me I have nothing to worry about on the
basis of my supporting and witness statements alone but do I add
this? Does it look a tad extreme to have taken legal advice?
(although if the union had helped me I would have asked them to do
exactly the same thing) or does it show them how seriously I am taking
this? If HR agree there's been a failure to follow procedure in
theory it could be thrown out without a hearing and land the manager
in it.....or even if there was a hearing it might still go the same
way and then she will be after me big time....I wouldn;t dare sneeze
without worrying about a disciplinary- she'd be standing outside my
office with a stop watch and I;'d get pulled up for being a nanosecond
late

Gotta think this through- any comments?

ROFL! I'm afraid I will have to steal this.

I think it would be good to mention, it definitely shows you are taking
it seriously. Sounds very efficent to me, to have statement from someone
in that position. But I'm not a lawyer.

You're right this gal's going for it!
After all if after that she did try to get me for being a few seconds
late once I could just say to her boss how convenient it was for her
to find any excuse to get me!

Well it went into the chair of the panel yesterday. As I was handing
it over I started shaking and said "I hope this is okay I've never had
to do anything like this before in my life" and he patted my shoulder
and told me I had nothing to worry about and it would all be okay

That of course was before he read that document. Oh and it was 10
discrepancies not 7!

Now have to wait and see- funny thing is at this moment I am perfecty
calm it's out of my hands now I just have to get through until next
Tuesday so any spare purrs either for me to make it until the 29th or
for the actual hearing appreciated
