Default BW: Treadmill MotherShip Problem Solved, Maybe LONG

Last night, unfamiliar with brains of the puter "programs" for workouts on
new electric treadmill, I tapped up the "speed" arrow from 1.7 mph to 2.5
mph...on "cardio" workout program built-in to treadmill....walking faster,
it was *great*: perfect, faster like "speed-walking".....all of a sudden, it
zoomed up to 5 mph, I had to almost *run*, clutching handles with both
hands......mind suddenly operating much slower than feet, trying to figure
out what happened, plus how to quickly slow it down without snatching the
"panic button" off the magnet! Two cats, the girls, had been sitting near
the belt, on the non-moving sides...they had gone flying off the back, while
BT Rowdy, sitting on the logo housing in front, watched the whole thing in
astonishment.....I managed to hit the "power" button and stop the thing,
while the girls righted themselves and glared the "look of death" at me.
Grabbing the owner's manual, I discovered that "cardio" workout program
slows down and speeds up the pace, to make heartbeat go to optimal speed and
then slow down! You can be sure I put THAT fact in *my* brain's memory bank.
The girls have not sat on treadmill since, no doubt due to injured dignities
(never mind *my* injured dignity) but Rowdy is still perched on the front
housing, probably still wondering what prompted the entertainment the rest
of us provided unwittingly.....LOL.

LOL. I have had the cat vs. treadmill thingy before. Check out how what I had
to endure. Second pic!

Soon the treadmill will become a great and wonderful workout for you, an awesome
thing to hang clothes on and also a nice little launching pad for the cat's to
commune with the mothership!

This is hilarious - I'm sure they assumed "I meant to do that" poses
immediately afterward.

But I always thought this was potentially dangerous for kitties - couldn't
they get a tail caught in some of the moving parts or something? Maybe I'm
too paranoid, but I never allow my cats in the room when I'm using mine.
Does anyone know whether this is a real danger to animals?

Well, actually, Joyce, I don't worry about that too much (except for the
dumping off the back) as the way this treadmill is built, the only way they
could get anything under it where the working parts are, much less caught,
is if it was cranked up to its maximum incline setting, which would create a
small space in front....I just got it (as you can tell, no experience) and
doubt very seriously if I will *ever* crank it up so I'm "running uphill" so
to speak. The only way the belt could injure them is by dumping their fat
little fuzzybutts off the back; as I said, they lose their footing and
although *I* have a panic button to avoid this to myself, they plop down
sideways for a few seconds and then it's "thump" off the back to the floor.
Very hard to perfect the "I meant to do that!" stance immediately afterward
such a dignity insult. I've examined them and the worst I've seen is "wind
knocked out of them" for a few seconds.
The girls are very stubborn - but not as stubborn as Rowdy - and I can still
hardly believe he has been smart enough to merely sit on the front housing
and watch his wacko hoomin slave prancing on the Mothership to the tunes of
loud rock music......no wonder cats feel like the superior species.

I guess Rowdy thinks: What's wrong with playing with a mousie?
Best wishes,
