It is SO cold here in The Pacific NW, brrr, the low was like 18 degrees last
night and I feed some strays, who have been left behind by their owners,
which makes me so mad, I could spit nails!! I just throw some kibbles on
the back balconey for them. I have the blinds closed so I can't see them,
but I can hear their cries. Damn those inhumans!!! If you're gonna move
and can't take your pets, at least have the decency to take them to a
shelter or have them humanely pts..
Don't just leave them behind!!! That is very wrong. Poor things.
Sorry for the rant. I needed to vent about that.

I know how disturbing that can be. And I know you do what you can.

Take care of yourself and say high to Mosey, your DH and the rest.

We had a balmy, October or even September like day late last week. The
famous New England tease. Since then, the cold has clamped down and
Bear is hoping for sn*w. He wants to show the puppy the beautiful
white stuff that makes him so happy and frisky. The rest of us don't
want any. It belongs on ski slopes, on Christmas Eve and in those
little globes that you turn over to make a little sn*w-storm.

If it snows in Wash State, everything shuts down because people don't know
how to drive in it. I can just see the doggies out playing in the snow
LOL. When I lived in Denver, my dog just loved the snow too. But that was
over 33 years ago.
Now, it's a balmy 20 degrees out...brrr...gotta go throw some kibble on the
porch, I hear hungry cries.

Sorry to piggy back on your post, Will, but as most people know I have Kyla
k/f'd. And yes, I'm sorry she's having health problems. Hope she gets
better soon.

What really alarms me is the suggestion that people who are moving have
their pets "humanely pts". Taken to shelters, yes. Foster homes found if
possible, absolutely. Put to sleep? NO! That's a very disturbing
suggestion.

You would rather have them abandoned and left to fend for themselves
then put down?!?!? What if it is the middle of winter like it is now
in a lot of areas?!?!

I agree to take them to a shelter or do everything humanly possible to
rehome them. But if it came down to JUST THE 2 OPTIONS of PTS or
abandon I would rather see them PTS especially if they were an indoor
only pet!!!

Having them humanely PTS the 'last resort , that's what I meant sorryif
I was mis-understood. I love the abondonded kitties I give the kibbles to
and I am so angry and their humans for just leaving them behind. It has
been so cold here and I can't let them in. I feel so bad for the poor
things and I do what I can.
Thanks Will.

At first I didn't understand what you meant, then I realized that in
my mind taken to shelters is virtually the equivalent of pts.

I don't have a big problem with feral cats in a decent climate, but
as far as I'm concerned abandoning a domestic cat that has never
learned to care for itself is much worse than taking it to a shelter
where is will likely be pts. At least its suffering will be limited.
Who knows what misery waits for an abandoned pet before it dies.

Kyla-

Kyla, try to find an organization that can take them. Get on the
phone, call
your local animal control -- if there are any privately-run shelters
or foster
care organizations, they will know how you can get in contact with
them.
If there is no shelter from the cold, rig up something for them. A
rubbermaid
tub, with a hole cut in it and insulated with blankets is better than
nothing.
Be sure they have water -- their usual sources may be frozen.
There's an unwritten rule -- "If you feed it, you own it." You truly
need to
do something besides throw kibble out, then shut the blinds so you
can't see them. I know all about financial limitations, physical
limitations,
and space limitations. But *someone* has to step up to the plate.
