Default Should be an interesting weekend

Last night, /proud momma my daughter took her first tentative crawls in
the -forward- direction. (Backwards has been mastered for some time.)
Hopefully she is gaining some confidence and skill while at daycare today.
The cats don't yet realize what they are in for

I've been scrambling around installing cabinet latches and baby gates
(another obstacle for my lazy boys to negotiate).

Oh, that reminds me of the rule that if a milestone (like a first
step) happens at daycare, it doesn't really count. Some daycare
providers will keep quiet about it, so that the first time can happen
at home. Crawling forwards is something to be proud of.

Yay! Congrats to the mobile rug-rat! Got any jpegs of the little crawler?

Cary has been smiling for 3 weeks, and now he's laughing. Boy do those
smiles andl aughs make parenting so much easier to cope with.

As some of you know, my nick-name for him is "Chicken". Has been since the
day of his birth. When he cries a particular cry, he sounds just like a
chicken clucking.

here is a (pathetic) song I made up for him

I'm a little chicken, 1, 2, 3
I'm a little chicken, can't you see?

I'm a little chicken, 2, 3, 4
I'm a little chicken and I want more

I'm a little chicken, 3, 4, 5
I'm a little chicken and I like to jive

I'm a little chicken, 4, 5, 6
I'm a little chicken, we've got lots of pics.

I'm a little chicken 5, 6, 7
I'm a little chicken and I smell like heaven

I'm a little chicken 6, 7, 8
I'm a little chicken, aren't I great?

I'm a little chicken 7, 8, 9
I'm a little chicken, he's all mine

I'm a little chicken, 8,9,10
I'm a little chicken, can we sing it again?

Its amazing what a sleep deprived,
desperate-for-him-to-stop-crying-and-go-to-sleep brain will come up with!

I remember (and my "baby" was 40 this year). I used to sing "On Top
of Old Smokey" to one of mine, until my DH said if he heard it one
more time it was grounds for divorce.
