**THANK YOU ALL *** Cost for tumor removal?
For your responses to my post about our cat's tumor. My husband is
feeling much better about it today and we are going to call the vet for an estimate as soon as they open. I also decided to check with another vet in our area. I was really dissappointed with our vet yesterday - she didn't really tell me ANYTHING at all except 'we need to take this one out, see you on Friday, can we do a teeth cleaning at the same time?' (can you say $$$$, it's like - do you want fries with that burger!) We were in there with the vet about 5 minutes total, with of course a 20 minute wait before hand despite our appointment. The place was packed. Then when we were checking out, the receptionist seemed peeved that I didn't know any more details - I said that's all she said, ask the VET if you need more info, I don't have it! All that for $42 and I was left feeling like I didn't have all the information I needed, I was hurried through, and overcharged. We'll get a second opinion, and I will be asking about specialists for the surgery or at least want to know how many vaccine related sarcomas they've treated and how many surgeries the vet has done. It seems like, if this is a sarcoma, our best bet is a good first surgery. Thank you all again, you were just what we needed and I'll keep you posted. Miss Abby is purring this morning and appreciating all the extra attention and special treats we've been showering her with. Annabanana |

If the cat needs to have her teeth cleaned, it is a good time to do it while she is under the anesthetic. Getting another opinion is smart. Again, god luck and many purrs for a happy outsome. mLB |

Thanks Lauren - we did find another vet. I called and made an
appointment for tomorrow afternoon. The receptionist was so nice and unhurried, and she said that they were booked up today because they allow at least a full half hour per appointment. I also called the old vet's office for an estimate, and the vet I saw was out, so they said she would call me back tomorrow some time. Good wishes for a happy outcome. If the cat needs to have her teeth cleaned, it is a good time to do it while she is under the anesthetic. Getting another opinion is smart. Again, god luck and many purrs for a happy outsome. mLB and mLB, I agree that combining needed treatments into a single anesthesia incidence is a great idea, however, the vet looked at her teeth, said they looked very good but that they could do the cleaning anyway since she'd be under - I tell you what, I don't like to have to get my own teeth cleaned when they don't need it, and they don't have to anesthetize me for it! THis board is such a great supportive place, thank you again for being here! annabananan |
