No interviews today, so I went out to do a few errands - mail the
bills, fuel up the car, do a little grocery shopping...

My first stop was at the post office. I mailed the bills and found the
intro materials from the unemployment office. As i back the car out, I
find I have no power steering. Great!

Well, the mechanic I use is just across the street from the post
office, so I pull over there, calculating howI'm going to deal with
this new expense. I have to use the car to go on interviews!

So I pop the hood and look inside. The serpentine belt is broken. This
drives pretty much everything - the AC, the water pump, the power
steering...

So I go inside, tell the guy about it, mention that they gave me a
brand new serpentine belt about one year ago, so I shouldn't need a
replacement quite yet. I also ask if there was anyway that a
compressor problem could have caused this.

Well yes, yes it could. In fact, my brand new compressor, for which I
paid a lot of bucks, and which has already had one other problem last
week, has locked up, which stressed the belt, which caused the belt to
snap, which has raised my blood pressure...

So I left the car at the shop while they order another new compressor.
It's still there, so it's good that I don't have any interviews
tomorrow either...

At least they will come pick me up when the warranty work is finished.

I am so tired of having to keep going back and back and back to the
mechanic, over the same stupid problem. I could use a few purrs
thatthey get it right this time, and that I don't need to go back any
time in the near future.

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark
