[OT] Makeup
I'm one of those women who just never "got" makeup. Once a good long
while, I might put on a bit of lipstick, a little rouge and some eye shadow. But I basically preferred to go nekkid most of the time, and so have no clue about makeup and its wonders. Now that I'm 50, I'm thinking "Hmmm, maybe I should try a little of this stuff." But, as I said, I am clueless. Anybody out there know of any good websites that explain makeup with tips etc.? I tried Googling, but found very little for some reason. I'm looking for something that both has good step-by-step instructions and good photos as well. Thanks for any suggestions! Watch your local department stores to see when one might have a make-up specialist doing "make-overs" - or make an appointment with one of the salesgirls if there won't be a specialist there for a while. They can show you how to apply make-up best suited to your face and features. But *DON'T* get talked into buying any of the high priced items - there have been many studies done that found that high priced department store make-up is no better than the drug store variety, but they cost about 10 times as much. -- Hugs, CatNipped See all my masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped/ Ginger-lyn feeling old Home Pages: http://www.moonsummer.com http://www.angelfire.com/folk/glsummer (homepage & cats) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb....mmer/index.htm (genealogy) http://www.movieanimals.bravehost.com/ (The Violence Against Animals in Movies Website) |

Of course they kind of expect you to buy somthing from them. You have to get your "nervy" revved up bigtime to nod, smile, and ignore the sales pitch you get for every product demonstrator will put on your face....but I can personally advise lower-priced (usually) items would be a lipgloss (one, not a packaged group) or a bar of cleansing soap (individual bar, not a packaged group). Open up your mouth and *ask* prices before you buy anything. If demonstrator is really obnoxious, I've never failed w/insistence on "trying" *anything* I do buy, w/o adding more products then and there, because of severe "allergies" - no matter what their products claims to be allergy-free, etc. There is NO "comeback" for customers' possible allergic reactions except the lame one, "our products are certified allergy-free"......me: "certified by whom? And are they gonna pay my allergist and hospital ER bill? I don't *think* so!" all said w/a big smile, while snaking out your credit card for the small item you do buy..... |

Way back in the 1920s, I had an aunt who traveled for Richard Hudnut Company as a beauty representative. The idea was to put on makeup to look like you did not have makeup on. |

I hope someone gives a link, because i"m anohter of those clueless women who needs several goes just to get the lipstick to look *even* let alone actually *nice*! The only time my make-up has ever looked good was on my wedding, but I didn't put it on. Most of the time, I avoid the stuff like the plague - I usually feel itchy, uncomfortable and very self concious in it. Yowie |

*delurk* find a merle Norman store, make an appointment and take notes, buy
little unless you really like it, then you will have the basics, and can go from there, also look up different brands on google and you will find tips on their sites, and last go to a larger department store, like Famous Barr, fields or Macys and see if any of their counters offer classes, Lee, *relurk* who hates the stuff but wears it for business meetings wrote in message ...
