Out hunting again. Since my rattie last week, there've been several mousies
presented . Yesterday it was a bird; I praise him for the rodents but
ignore the birds as I wish he wouldn't catch them, but of course he will,
he's a cat.
There was so much lack of praise about the bird that he took it away and ate
it himself - he never eats prey he brings for me.
I had a new mouse only 20 minutes ago.
Boyfie has lost all his fluffiness that he gets every winter from being a
couch potato "Wot, go out when it's cold? Dream on.."
Now it's warmer, he's out and about all the time and back to a lean mean
hunting machine.
Except if it's raining, of course. In which case his duvet is a better
option.

My last cats had wonderful lives going outside as they wished,...... until
the local predators got them both.

That is too bad... I am sorry.
But Boyfie lives in England. And I live in Sweden. Predators are very few
here.
So I still wish every cat could have this wonderful life.

I'm not suggesting that a USAian let their cat/s out like I do, you have far
more dangerous predators.
The worst Boyfie could encounter is a red fox, which rarely but occasionally
attack cats. He is quite capable of climbing a tree in 5 seconds - I've
seen him do it when he was after a grey squirrel (which he did not catch
unfortunately.)
I was just giving you all a snapshot of his life as it is at the moment as a
UK cat where he lives.
I feel bad now.

there is absolutely NO reason for you to feel bad, most of us in the US
would LIKE to let our cats out, unfortunately between the predators and
wierdos its just not possible in most places... the most anyonw should feel
about your post in the negative is envy on behalf of their cats... anything
else is stupid... i am glad for boyfriend and you that he can explore the
out, Lee

Tweed, you have no reason to feel bad! I think the outdoors is a great
place for a cat, if it can be done safely. And in your case, it can be.
(Nothing is 100% safe, but IMO, a 100% safe life isn't very interesting.)
I think Boyfie lives a charmed life and if I were a cat, that's the life
I'd want.

What does a charmed life mean to you?
Here it means "I did something dangerous lots of times and I am lucky to
still be alive after being so stupid"

Well, I can't speak for how all USians use that word, but to me it
just means you've had a lot of good fortune, which has allowed you to
live well and avoid many common problems (illness, financial worries, bad
relationships, etc) - not problems caused by stupidity necessarily, but
just bad luck.
