I'll say it before someone else does, take your cat to the vet! Behavioral changes often denote medical problems. There's sooooo many things it could be, better safe than sorry. -- Mathew Butler to 2 kittens: Chablis & Muscat En Vino Veritas |

It could be a hairball or it could be something worse. He could have ingested something bad or have a blockage or any number of things. You know your cat best and the situation best. Sometimes it is okay to wait for a day and see if it passes but the fact that he is meowing loudly and hiding is troublesome. Do you have a vet you can call? I think he should be seen, really. If it was just vomiting and lethargy, you could wait to see if he is just temporarily under the weather but the other symptoms combined with that make it seem as though he might be quite ill. Let us know how it goes. Candace |

Well, that's one possibility. But there are many other possibilities, too. I'd get him to the vet, even if it meant making an emergency (IOW - costs more, since on the weekend) appointment, as soon as I could. When a cat hides, it's a *big* signal that they feel really awful. Cathy |

I think a vet might be your best bet. If he is sick you don't want to take a chance. |
