We always called that 'tuning in'. Problem is, the cat really objects
when you try to pick him up by the antenna.

Although I always think of that position as the "Ballet Leg."
Pussycats would be a natural for the ballet, but they'll never work
that hard. =o)
Although a ballet/catloving friend and I made up equivalents of the
five ballet positions, once. I can't remember what they all were, but
First Position was Cat on it's back with forelegs extended straight
up, the paws tilted in toward one another. Second position is the one
we all call "upside downy head."
