Default Monsters Inc.

Haven't been posting for a while as I've been too busy to do more than
lurk on RPCA, but I have to update you all with the latest Miles news...
quite apart from Robbies adventures in DC whilst my parents came back to
the UK..

I should have seen it coming.... I really should. It's not like I
haven't been here before. I currently have the entire cast of Monsters
Inc. in my study.

Having become more and more desperate for the pitter patter of tiny paws
in the house, I stupidly agreed to be an emergency foster mom for
Cardiff Cats Protection, so on Friday they presented me with 4 kittens,
who have been nick-named "Monsters Inc.".

There's the "Chip-Fat-Two" - Katie, a pretty calico and white & Tripper,
a black and white loony (In honour of Chris-the-Lurkers little round
ball and his other cat) who are a brother and sister bonded pair of 12
week old hellion hoolikittens. They had the dubious pleasure of some a$$
throwing chip fat over them...hence the name "Chip-fat-two". They are
socialised, friendly, complete PITA's and have a severe dose of terminal
cuteness.

Then there is Mitzi, a small, 6 week old smoke tortie who's a feral farm
kitten, and her bud, "Mouse" who is a tabby and white, has *HUGE* ears,
and is a 12 weeks old feral from a different litter on the same farm and
lives up to her name.

Mouse is *such* a fraidy puss, she wets herself when I pick her up. So,
of course this afternoon, after a hour of fear, wetting herself and
panicking, she starts purring, falls asleep on my lap............

.......and I'm adopting her. Can we say complete softy?

Aaaanyway... My BF, Paul, was staying this weekend, and he has always
been a self confessed *d*g* man. A while back, he mentioned the *M*
word, and I laughed and said *ask me in about 3 years*. He dropped the
subject.

I knew the kittens were working their charm, when I caught him getting
up at 3am to change litter boxes and check the kittens were OK. Not even
*I* do that! This weekend, HRFL Tiger also started paying Paul a *LOT*
of attention, getting on his lap and just generally being nice. It's the
first time in 5 years that it's happened.

Having observed Paul this weekend with the kittens and the way he
behaved with Mouse & HRFL in particular, and given the fact he indulges
my obsession with ice-hockey outrageously, he is very definitely a
keeper. So last night, whilst we were at an ice-hockey game, I said yes,
I'd marry him. We won't be getting hitched for quite a while, (I need to
finish my PhD and we need to get our business off the ground) and we'll
be bogging off last minute to do it somewhere quiet (Deb, start saving!
;o)), but the point is, it's now probably going to happen.

It made his night that the Cardiff Devils won their hockey game too.

Helen,
Might I offer early congratulations and gently mention that married people
finish their PhDs and get businesses off the ground?
It doesn't have to be an either/or deal.
Cheers,
Annie, stepping down off the mommy mode soapbox
