Default Back from a long weekend (and a long post!)

Well, just as I was recovering from being miserably sick, I had to do
my one big weekend a year that brings me 25% or more of my business.
So I haven't read the group for five days! I'm suffering withdrawal!

Purrs to all who need them, congratulations to all who deserve them,
and hugs to all!

You all know what my business is by now, I'm sure. I do astrology,
Tarot and a couple of other things. My one big weekend a year is when
I have my booth at The Community Festival, aka ComFest. It's a great
festival in a beautiful park, which has grown over the years to the
point that where, once upon a time, I could always run into the people
I know that I *only* saw at ComFest, while these days, there are so
many people, I miss a lot of the oldsters.

ComFest was started around 1970 by a bunch of hippie liberal types
(don't cringe, conservative Republicans ;-) ). It still is full of
fun stuff like tie-dies and candles, and lefty/liberal community
groups. It's also grown to the point that there are lots of
non-hippie types that come, families with children, older folks,
teenagers with their skateboards and all kinds of folks.

I was very busy and didn't get to see much of the festival itself this
year, but I had a great time running into a few old friends, doing
readings, and enjoying watching the wide variety of people walk by.
And I found a beautiful fairy necklace for my dear friend KK in
Indiana, who is a cat lover (8 cats, and 2 d*gs!), and loves fairy
stuff.

After about five years, you'd think the cats were used to this by now.
This year, though, we have awful next-door neighbors, and I asked a
couple of friends to come in Sat. and Sun. and "house sit" for a few
hours, just in case the neighbors were up to no good. The cats did
*not* know what to make of this turn of events. Most of them decided
to take it in stride (and most of them have been through enough
ComFests to realize that, yes, we're going to be gone for a long time
for three days in a row, but we *will* feed them, and things *will*
get back to normal!). However, Merlyn, silly little squirrelly thing
that she is, was *not* pleased. She really bitched at me on Saturday
night, just telling me exactly how unpleased she was. lol! This is
only her second Comfest, I think, and she has decided she does not
like other people as well. So she was fit to be tied! Brando,
however, was another story. He hid on Saturday when my friend Phil
was here, but on Sunday, when my friend Sydney was here, Brando, the
timid former feral cat, actually got up on the couch next to Sydney,
and put his paws in her lap while she petted him!!! I even have a
(bad) picture of it -- I couldn't belive it. He surely has come a
long way from the hissy, spitty, growly cat I first saw in the trap on
the porch.

Yesterday, brother and sister-in-law were here for a visit, and we
went to see Fahrenheit 911. So the cats were even more irritated,
since usually Monday after Comfest is a "normal" day. Heh. Fooled
them!

So today I'm sure they are quite happy that there are no more strange
people wandering around, I'm on the computer again, and DH is ready to
go to work, like normal.

Ahhhh - normal. That's what cats want!

Purrs and good thoughts to everyone!
