Maisie's last injection.
Just let's say we got it done.
I sat her on my knee on the way to the vet and put her into Boyfie's wooden box when we got there because she just has no manners at all whatsoever and she barked if she thought she could even see a dog and screamed at them and scrabbled at my lap. I have no idea why it's allowed, but she isn't mine. |

It's not really her fault. All mine were trained, doesn't take long just few months but Maisie isn't able to walk on a short lead as they let her have a long lead and wander around. FGS. I wish I had her. She'd be taught to walk on a short lead and not scream at other dogs she does it because she is scared. |

I've only ever had one dog (and one cat, so far) and he wasn't exactly obedient. Housebroken, yes. Friendly, not really. I did my best with him but he was a puppy and I was only 21 years old when my now ex-husband brought him home. At the time I knew nothing about dogs. I learned enough, but I had to work every day. Still, I was awarded "custody" of Sampson in the divorce settlement. Thank you for making sure Maisie gets her shots. That's one thing I made sure of with my little mutt dog, Sampson (RB, 1999) even when I was pressed for money. Jill |

Well trained dogs are so much happier and nicer to live with. -- Adrian Absolutely. She doesn't like me now because when she was biting the front of Boyfie's box, instead of saying "Ssshhh, ssshhh" in a gentle way like Claire did, I banged once on the top of box and said severely "Stop that NOW" She did. She's never been spoken to like that before. Which is the whole problem. She's not been socialised enough either, the poor girl had got so worked up that she collapsed exhausted on my knee on the way home. Anyway, it's done. |

My brother watched me train my dog Pollyanna to a high standard of obedience, so he knows how to do it, he just can't be bothered, and Claire is simply too kind. She's their dog, not mine, after all. I will, of course help next year with getting her to TED for her injections again. Tigger only gets his because I insist he goes with Boyfie, not because they don't want to arrange it more because they both work and have three children of school age who do football and other extra-curricular activities. Dogs are much happier and secure when they know they've got a strong pack leader. Which should not be themselves, and that is just the difficulty here. Maisie has taken leadership for herself and she is not up to it the whole thing of being the protector is left to her because she has no leadership whatsoever. She was absolutely exhausted when we got home from the vet from ??protecting Claire?? My brother knows best, of course about his own dog. I tell you what, none of mine would ever get up on the table and steal from my dinner plate, nor be a nuisance in the car, nor be other than perfectly behaved at the vets or anywhere, because I trained them. With no raised voices or any punishment. I've never found that necessary. I will leave Maisie to my brother to rear. He didn't even tell me that he got her so he obviously wants to do it by himself, but he's making a bad job of it. Tweed |
