Default "Emergency" purrs pay off!

Thanks to everyone who sent purrs. May I offer further proof that they
work? Today I received an e-mail from someone in the "artist"
department at the opera house, telling me that the box office has
confirmed that I will have tickets waiting for me. I had sent an e-mail
to the singer (not even sure he ever reads his own e-mail messages).
Evidently he not only read it, but told his manager to take care of it,
so beneath the message from the opera house was one in German from his
manager, then my own to the singer (so I know where the tickets came
from).

That is *so* cool! It sounds like that's going to be a very enjoyable trip.

Neat! Enjoy the trip. Perhaps you can actually meet him after the
performance; I don't know the European "green room" conventions.

Any recording recommendations for this artist?

That is really great. Nice of the guy to do that and show some loyalty

That is wonderful, Evelyn. The Power of the Purr strikes again.

What wonderful news!

Don't forget to write a lovely thankyou and make sure that the Opera world
knows this singer's kindness. Nothing better than positive PR for him.

I"m so happy for you!

I hope so - I have a phot of him with me and another fan which was taken
in New York, a year ago last October. I'd like to get it autographed
(two copies, one for my fellow fan).

Depnds upon your taste in music - he's made a great many classical
recordings - Lieder and French art songs and "recitals" of operatic
arias, as well as a great many complete operas. (He's on the 1995 Solti
"Meistersinger" recording - with Ben Hepner and Karita Mattila - which
won a classical Grammy that year.)
He has also made two recordings of lighter music - one a "cast album" of
a French production of "Man of La Mancha", and one of "standard" French
songs - probably what you'd call "semi-classical" - titled "Chansons de
toujours".
