We're back from the island. It was a short stay this year, but the cats
seem to be quite content to be home. At least they can sleep in peace
without keeping one eye open for scary d*gs and big mean Kasper, who
used to come to our shack expressly to bully Mir and Caliban.

The doxie that drove away Mir the other summer visited once and rushed
around barking wildly. My sister finally caught her and took her back
to her owners. Fortunately, Mir wasn't nearly as upset this time. The
doxie is starting to look veryv grey around the muzzle, and her owners
thought she didn't have it in her to go running off, so they hadn't
watched her very carefully. At least that's their story. Well, all's
well that ends well. She probably won't be around for very much longer.

Caliban did not go swimming this summer, though the swallows had their
nest under the dock again. In fact, the swallows were very aggressive
to the cats, diving at them every time they came anywhere near the
nest, and Caliban seemed quite afraid of them this year.

I have pictures, though maybe less than previous years. The only cat I
didn't get a shot of this year is handsome Kasper. The others are (in
addition to Mir and Caliban) Mir's brother Emil (he looks like Mir in
the face, but he has about three times her body - chunky boy) and my
sister's cat Ronja (tortie), who had a rare moment of affection.

Lovely pictures! The Island reminds me of a camping ground we used to
go to all the time - once even rented a cabin with an actual bathroom,
pure luxury! I really miss doing that, having long leisurely breakfasts
on the deck overlooking the lake, sigh, I guess that's forever behind us
now.
