The S is back
Well that was fun!! I think we can take it she's healthy-it took
about 20-30 minutes before she was lured back in the house after she did a runner over the fence when I came in and sat down in the back garden next door so we traipsed through the house next door me and 3 boys (I get the impression they would have liked to keep her but they're keeping the other kitten in the litter) got within 3 feet of her and with amazing speed (I'd forgotten just how fast kittens can be) she whipped round and ran into a gap between the fence and the shed wide enough for a kitten but not even a skinny person could have got in there and just long enough that she couldn't be grabbed. So we had to play the waiting game I was outside chatting to the cab driver with my up on the carrier, a couple of times someone came out to give me a progress report along the lines of "You;ll have to keep waiting" in fact I'd just told the driver if nothing happened within 10 minutes I was giving up and was texting Adrian on FaceBook got as far as "Haven't caught " when one of the kids came out and said she'd been lured back in so I grabbed the carrier and went back in opened the carrier gate and one of the kids managed to get her in there- the look she gave the kid suggested she was memorising his face for revenge purposes later-and I slammed the gate and we were off.....She sat in the carrier looking quite scared. We made a conscious decision from the start of all this- we're not making a BIG THING about it- Sarsi's lost her sisfur less than a month ago- the last thing we want to do is spend hours cooing and fussing over a kitten- she might feel she's being replaced also it's a big adventure for a small kitten so we prefer to let her settle down at her own pace. So sorry you'll all have to wait for pics She's been here about half an hour, Sarsi paced round the carrier several times sniffing at it then looked in at the kitten- she hasn't made any aggressive moves just curious ones and now the kitten is at the front of the carrier and they're both looking at each other but it's not agressive staring on either side. I haven't even held her yet I'm thinking she's a little older than 10 weeks as her eyes have changed colour- they're a lovely gold and if she is 10 weeks she's going to be a big cat. We haven;t got a name for her yet even Anyway once again I sign myself Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |

The late Betsy had actually been caught and placed in a box by those looking for a home for her when she made a daring escape as I opened the box in an effort to examine her closely. The introduction sounds like it's going well, too. Curiousity but no hissing, spitting, and attempts to attack through the mesh on the cat-carrier! Very good start! -- Cheryl P. |

The S is back
Well here we are......
I put a dish of tuna kitten food in with her- she didn't seem to know what it was at first but she's eaten a few mouthfuls then curled up on the towels in the carrier and commenced napping. Sarsi is asleep in the bedroom- business as usual she's being very good about this- she slept by the carrier for a bit and they've almost sniffed each other, A little later we're going to take the carrier to the bathroom and open it but shut the door- give her half an hour or so to explore quietly and use the litter box (we hope they said she was litter trained then again I've had cats (Sarsi and Dunzi for example) who were brought up outside and used litter straight off) then we'll open the bathroom door and let her explore at her own pace. Dave says "What if she hides under the sofa and we can't get her out?" I say fine I know there's nothing much under there apart from Dunzi's nest so it'll be a safe place for her to sleep and she'll come out in her own time when she;s hungry So sorry everyone photos will come once she's settled in, been stroked and inspected and possibly named..... I don't think Sarsi will have a problem with her - kittens can get away with murder and an adult cat will indulge him/her. That's not to say the kitten won't be popped every once in a while when kitten antics go over the top, but she won't be harmed. I can't wait for pictures, but I think you're right to treat the situation casually for a while and give Sarsi lots of attention. But I do expect to read adorable stories about the introduction and settling in. ; -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, created by "Yowie", maintained by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.net/rpcablog/ Email: L(dot)T(dot)Crews(at)comcast(dot)net |

Well the gate to the carrier has now been open a while- Sarsi has
looked in and done nothing else- kitten is shy and sleeping at the back soon we may have to pick her up but right now she seems content (or ill just wondering if they wanted rid of her to avoid vet bills then again the speed she jumped that fence there's not a lot wrong with her!) so giving her some time We have a provsional name last night we saw Jon Bonnamassa with Black Country Communion then he went to the Prog stage and encored with Jethro Tull one of the finest rock moments in my life! So Bonnie short for Bonnamassa anyone? What do you think? Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |

See my last post she is Bonnie- short for Bonnamassa- we saw him last night and had a great time and it's a rock and roll name so Sarsi will approve still haven't even held her- she's had some food, the carrier gate is open but she's asleep right now and Sarsi having realised the gate was open has left her alone so far so good Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |
