Well the gate to the carrier has now been open a while- Sarsi has looked in and done nothing else- kitten is shy and sleeping at the back soon we may have to pick her up but right now she seems content (or ill just wondering if they wanted rid of her to avoid vet bills then again the speed she jumped that fence there's not a lot wrong with her!) so giving her some time We have a provsional name last night we saw Jon Bonnamassa with Black Country Communion then he went to the Prog stage and encored with Jethro Tull one of the finest rock moments in my life! So Bonnie short for Bonnamassa anyone? What do you think? Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs Bonny sounds nice to me. I wouldn't jump to "sick" from her actions - kittens sleep even more than grown cats, and she's had an exciting and strenuous day both physically and emotionally. Well that was fun!! I think we can take it she's healthy-it took about 20-30 minutes before she was lured back in the house after she did a runner over the fence when I came in and sat down in the back garden next door so we traipsed through the house next door me and 3 boys (I get the impression they would have liked to keep her but they're keeping the other kitten in the litter) got within 3 feet of her and with amazing speed (I'd forgotten just how fast kittens can be) she whipped round and ran into a gap between the fence and the shed wide enough for a kitten but not even a skinny person could have got in there and just long enough that she couldn't be grabbed. So we had to play the waiting game I was outside chatting to the cab driver with my up on the carrier, a couple of times someone came out to give me a progress report along the lines of "You;ll have to keep waiting" in fact I'd just told the driver if nothing happened within 10 minutes I was giving up and was texting Adrian on FaceBook got as far as "Haven't caught " when one of the kids came out and said she'd been lured back in so I grabbed the carrier and went back in opened the carrier gate and one of the kids managed to get her in there- the look she gave the kid suggested she was memorising his face for revenge purposes later-and I slammed the gate and we were off.....She sat in the carrier looking quite scared. We made a conscious decision from the start of all this- we're not making a BIG THING about it- Sarsi's lost her sisfur less than a month ago- the last thing we want to do is spend hours cooing and fussing over a kitten- she might feel she's being replaced also it's a big adventure for a small kitten so we prefer to let her settle down at her own pace. So sorry you'll all have to wait for pics She's been here about half an hour, Sarsi paced round the carrier several times sniffing at it then looked in at the kitten- she hasn't made any aggressive moves just curious ones and now the kitten is at the front of the carrier and they're both looking at each other but it's not agressive staring on either side. I haven't even held her yet I'm thinking she's a little older than 10 weeks as her eyes have changed colour- they're a lovely gold and if she is 10 weeks she's going to be a big cat. We haven;t got a name for her yet even Anyway once again I sign myself Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs Ooooo!! I'm so excited! Can't wait until she and Sarsi start interacting more directly. Seems promising so far. But I'll bet Dunzi is chortling to herself at the RB this very minute for having sent you another escape artist. Congrats on the new addition. And the additional 's', where it belongs! Joyce -- We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both. -- Louis D. ... Well here we are...... I put a dish of tuna kitten food in with her- she didn't seem to know what it was at first but she's eaten a few mouthfuls then curled up on the towels in the carrier and commenced napping. Sarsi is asleep in the bedroom- business as usual she's being very good about this- she slept by the carrier for a bit and they've almost sniffed each other, A little later we're going to take the carrier to the bathroom and open it but shut the door- give her half an hour or so to explore quietly and use the litter box (we hope they said she was litter trained then again I've had cats (Sarsi and Dunzi for example) who were brought up outside and used litter straight off) then we'll open the bathroom door and let her explore at her own pace. Dave says "What if she hides under the sofa and we can't get her out?" I say fine I know there's nothing much under there apart from Dunzi's nest so it'll be a safe place for her to sleep and she'll come out in her own time when she;s hungry So sorry everyone photos will come once she's settled in, been stroked and inspected and possibly named..... Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs You're absolutely right to wait for the photos. Making both cats feel comfortable and relaxed with the new situation comes way before our desire to see pictures. Well her first night- at some point she went to the bedroom and we heard a few cries from somewhere near the wardrobe then everyone went to sleep. I've heard nothing this morning but Dave assures me he's heard rustling and one meep for under the sofa. There's a small poop in the tray, which Dave thinks is too small for Sarsi to have done it especially as the bigger litter box this morning contained a large offering (Sarsi likes to kick litter around so her box is very high sided- not sure Bonnie could even get into it). I have to go to a funeral now so I am hoping when the nasty woman wot took her from her mum is gone she might come out (She jumped on the bed last night to meet Dave but did a runner when he said hello to her) and meet Dave. She has food and a small water dish and the carrier is still there if she needs a bolt hole Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |

We're starting to panic here apart from some rustling that suggested
she's under the sofa a few hours back....nothing. Sarsi went under the sofa just now very slowly then backed out and I have looked but can't see her under there although she may have moved when Sarsi went up to her but we didn't hear anything. We're not even sure she's alive under there what if she's died? But we don't want to try and flush her out of anything if she's timid- the occasional meep would go a long way to us feeling happier about this as Dave says kittens are inquisitive little things so where is she? So far as I know she hasn't touched her breakfast Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs (possibly) |
