One of my cats is for some reason attracted to freshly washed clothes. I
live in a block of flats and use communal washing lines but she checks out
all the neighbours clothes and is always happy when the lines are full of
washing. Is there a reason for this?

She's a cat, that's reason enough. It's not our place to question our furry
owners. :-)

Yep. Same reason they are attracted to boxes and bags. Because they are
*there*. Oh, and I happen to like the smell of fresh laundry, too. But
don't expect to find me sniffing your neighbors clothes and sheets.

Cali loves sweet smells, laundry, perfume, shampoo (went whacky for Herbal
Essences), but then she loves stinky shoes and smelly armpits too.

It is the way she gathers the news - by smell. MLB

Nina finds a pile of clean clothes warm from the dryer irresistable.
Folding and putting away the clean stuff is something of a battle with
her around, as she has to burrow her way into the pile and bliss out
kitten style, first, and she doesn't appreciate my making her nice toys
disappear. However, being an indoor cat, she doesn't check out the
neighbor's laundry, too.

My clean but not-yet-folded laundry can sit in the basket for days,
because every time I think to myself, "gee, I should fold and put away
the laundry", someone's sleeping in it and looking too adorable to move.
Yep, that's the ticket. Of course that's the reason I don't get around
to putting it away.

My main impetus for putting clothes away is that the boyz always sit
on the laundry in the baskets.

When I'm doing laundry I tend to be somewhat less than motivated When I
take clothes out of the dryer I often fold them and leave them on the
kitchen table. Harri Roadcat has therefor chosen the kitchen table as the
official center of her domain. As soon as I open the dryer to take a load
of clothes out, Harri appears immediately to start reclining on the
freshly dried clothes as soon as they are available.
