I didn't express concern about the treatment of the cat (which I am sure was just fine), I expressed concern about the message this commercial was sending and they totally ignored that in their response. No, it doesn't. It does sound exactly like the answer I got though, in fact my answer was identical. Don't these people use their brains? Someone must have said at some early point in the process, "Is that scene really a good idea?" I suppose it was a matter of 'corporate think'. Once the ball really got rolling, no one had the nerve to speak up against it any more. Regards and Purrs, O J Wow. If they have a "platitude" to send out specific to the commercial, they must have gotten a lot of complaints already. I myself have not seen the ad. |

The company I work for had a similar problem with a new ad campaign. The ad (you might have seen it) depicted a lion hiding under a cheesy ghost costume (the old blanket with eyes cut out). The point to make was that even though we have a new name, we will be easy to recognize. However, apparently some folks realized that the blanket on the lion could be interpreted as a KKK thing, so we pulled the ad. Not only that, but the company ordered sensitivity training for the ad agency and requested that the creative people responsible for that ad never again work for us. They replaced the ghost costume with a mardi gras mask, same lion though. -- Victor Martinez Owned and operated by the Fantastic Seven (TM) Send your spam he Email me he |

First I saw the commercial the first time, Mother grabbed cat away from the
brad before s/he could get it into the dryer. That's the only time I saw that *version* of the commercial. Next time I saw it, there was no cat, and mother was taking a wire basked full of (now broken & dripping) eggs out of the dryer.
